Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ronnie's bar is pretty low. Telling us 3 times what a great save that was from lloris. Ball was straight at him.

It did take a deflection and he had to react fast

Wow actual some positivity from Whelan, that's the real story here.

Loving Ajax. Real are there for the taking, awful run if defeats at home looks set to continue if they dont get their act together, hopefully they wont.

They were there for the taking in the first leg too. If they got through this (which I feel they will) and play at this level against a top side they could get seriously embarrassed

Plenty of time left for a comeback but it be so sweet if Ajax can hold out.

Never mind a Madrid comeback, Ajax could win it with a couple of goals to spare if they keep this up.

Bale coming on already, Vazquez injured. Could be the chance for him to win back that fickle crowd of fans.

Madrid behind and getting bossed... How will the referee manage to bring them back in with VAR watching??

VAR is only as good as the referee watching it.

After what happened in Inter game recently I doubt var is the ultimate answer.

It does at least highlights the referees who should not be referees to the general public.

Nothing he could do would convince those fans.

Was just thinking that. Maybe this is the night they finally come to appreciate him.

Probably true, I think Bale’s attitude is nearly as bad as them though in some ways, not that it excuses the fans booing their own player.

Vinicius has to go off injured now, it’s a disaster for Real.

Have never in 10 years seen a Madrid side so poor.

With that said, loving the confidence in this young Ajax team. lOoks to be some real talent coming through their ranks again.

Feel sorry for him, could be a real disaster for Madrid now.

I wanted a drama, but not at the player's cost.

Well we will get both I guess.

    They need to score 4.

No they don't. If this ends 2-2 then Real are through.

Correct, but I cant see Ajax not scoring again.

I'm VARly sure Madrid will find the goals from somewhere.

Real was close to towards the end of first half.

Unfortunately teams like Ajax often mess things up and the experience of Real can give them (Madrid) a bit of advantage.

That is not Real from last years, though. Time will tell.

Real havent scored a goal now in over 225 minutes ,forwards couldn't hit a barn door.

Spurs into the next round so going by Gary Neville logic Spurs should throw getting top 4 and concentrate fully on winning the Champions League.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,025 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Ajax not content to sit and hold at all - looking to end this tie entirely with another goal in the next 10 mins it looks like. Really flooding forward in search of a 3rd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

I thought VAR couldn’t interfere in those situations?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,050 ✭✭✭✭The Talking Bread

Can VAR really intervene for that???????????? That is ridiculous.

    That - was ****ing incredible!!

Holy ****. brilliant goal, but especially special for the efforts to keep the ball in play.

Not sure that I like that this is even under consideration.... that it can be pulled back for a decision several phases before... where do you draw the line?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,928 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

VAR once again taking way to long.

Good Decision on but way to long to come to it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,977 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

You can't be 100% certain from any angle so goal should stand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,017 ✭✭✭sReq | uTeK

    6 of one.

Looks in and out from both. If not sure it has to stand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,497 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Right call. No clear evidence it went out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

That doesn’t make sense, does it need to be on the same “phase of play”, how far can VAR lads roll back the clock to stop a goal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,409 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

in fairness it looks out in one angle but not in the other, VAR won't resolve this debate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,017 ✭✭✭sReq | uTeK

VAR once again taking way to long.

Really?? Considering what's at stake I'm sure an extra few minutes is worthy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

To be honest if that was allowed stand against my team I'd be fuming.
