Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lets not forget how bad Liverpool are away from home in Europe the last few years , Napoli , PSG, red star, Madrid (final) Roma, have all beaten them ,

Only wins where against Porto, Maribor and a domestic game v City ,

But their defence has been (largely) rock solid this season.

    Here's oddschecker's tuppence worth:
    https://www.oddschecker.com/tips/football/champions-league/20190311-bayern-munich-v-liverpool-tips-betting-preview
For a 13/1 longshot, I’m backing the score after 90 minutes to be 0-0.

This is the only scoreline that can force extra-time and penalties, and Liverpool’s stuttering attack on the road – combined with their watertight defence – may force a repeat of what we saw at Anfield three weeks ago.

They have conceded 6 goals in 3 champions league away games, Not rock solid in Europe at all ,

    Far from solid in Europe.

I don't think they will either, but if a more attacking Bayern approach suits Liverpool as you say, might holding out for another 0-0 and a penalty shootout offer their best hope of getting through the tie?

Bayern will fancy their chances at home to anyone. Liverpools back four have been changing a lot lately and they have been conceding in away European games quite a bit. A more regular/solid back 4 should be available tomorrow and they will need it. Still think liverpool will qualify through the away goal route. Bayern have got back on top in the Bundesliga having been 6 or 7 behind Dortmund but I still fancy us to go through, it's very delicately poised though and it will be interesting to watch the tactics change throughout the game.

I think City have an exceptional chance to win it this year with PSG, Real already out and Juve barely hanging on.

City are mentally suspect ,can see them doing a bottle job against a good side .

Cristiano looking stronger and fitter than ever, having passed his 34th birthday.

    It's almost unbelievable Jeff!

Nothing to see here, move on.

Got dammit. Had 20 quid @ 5/2 on City to win 3-0, 4-0 or 5-0. They just had to score 6

    City chasing the 8th

The only shock is that it didn't happen in the first leg. Schalke wouldn't even give most of the Europa League sides a game now.

Surely backing over 3.5 would have been close in odds?

Don't know. I knew it was gonna be a slaughter so I went for it but I didn't think it would be this bad FFS. Schalke are atrocious.

Only caught the end of this but what a performance by Juventus and CR. Wouldn't bet against them going all the way in this.

    City are favourites

I wouldn't trust City in a one off game TBH, too many lapses of concentration and one off fvck ups in big European games over the years. Maybe they will sort that aspect out, but conceding 2 to a poor Shalke in the first leg would suggest not.
Juve looked good. Very disappointed with Atleti, no ambition at all, no attacking threat. Defensively too, they were very vulnerable to the crosses, and this was badly exposed tonight. Juve made them lool really poor, they had a great cut to them (Juve) positively aggressive and fully deserved the win. Some new players there that looked good tonight.
I'm no fan of. Cristiano, but he really showed up tonight. He called out Atleti and their fans after the treatment he got during the first leg, it's one thing talking the talk, but in fairness tonight he walked the walk.

Have to disagree. Liverpool will score out there, and Bayern will have their work cut out to score twice against that defence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,786 ✭✭✭KathleenGrant

Of course City are favourites but Schalke are 14th in Bundesliga. Wouldn't you expect anyone else to beat them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,307 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

    City are favourites

I've no idea why City are favourites and have been for most of the season.
They have no European pedigree , and have won nothing in Europe.
Add to that their mental frailties and tendency to choke under pressure and its baffling how they are favourites.
I'd pick Barca and Juventus over them every day of the week.

Liverpool only scored once in 3 defeats out of 3 away in the competition this season, that said a score draw will do it for them here.
