Awful draw for a Barcelona fan. United could catch them out on the counter and if they don't, there's another English side awaiting them and possibly another in the final.

English teams v Barcelona is insufferable.

And if United win, a United v Liverpool CL semifinal instead...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,239 ✭✭✭Jimbob1977

Barcelona's last 30 Champions League home games:

    Won 27 and drew 3.

United will need to win that home leg (1st leg). Possibly by two goals. The Camp Nou will be an onslaught.

    Liverpool to beat Porto

    City to beat Spurs

    Juve to beat Ajax

Poxy bad I think he means, PSG and Barca here. Arsenal and Wolves in the FA cup when there were much easier draws

United v Barca will be a great game,

As i said yesterday Barcelona are a right pain because even if you play perfectly all it takes is Messi has a good game and good night for anyone ,

Nah pretty sure as a Liverpool fan he is taking the piss.

United have had rotten luck this year with draws. Add in the fact that we should be having the second leg at home but it has to be switched because city were at home too. Everything against us this year.

Anyway, didn’t expect to be in the quarters so have to look forward to it anyway.

An extremely random draw. One might say perfectly random.

Sounds likes a fix to me...

Don't forget Roma knocked out a better Barcelona side last year ,
I think United will do them and that comes form a Liverpool fan

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,424 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

United are either good enough or they ain't. If they get through Psg and Barca they deserve to be in semi final.

Barca hot favs but you never know

Barca play Atletico 3 days before the away trip to United not ideal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,050 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

No such thing as hot favs at this stage imho.

PSG were 2 up after Old Trafford tie, having outclassed Utd.
Real Madrid were 2-1 up after Amsterdam, probably 'hot' favs at home.
Atleti were favs after leading 2-0 going into Turin game.

Barcelona are better this season ,the defence is much meaner and Suarez is much improved too.

That could be a big factor.

Bet that game gets played the Friday night. La Liga (and other European leagues) actually help their clubs prepare for Europe.

All these sides have weapons. Give them 20 mins we’re you’re sloppy and off the pace and you’ll have shipped a couple of goals before you know it. That’s why this is the best competition in football.

enjoyable draw from a neutral perspective

    My prediction

Ajax vs Juventus - Juventus to win
Spurs vs Man City - Man City to win
Barcelona vs Man Utd - Barcelona to win
Liverpool - Porto - Liverpool to win

Semi finals would be a cracking line up!

    Juventus vs Man City
    Barcelona vs Liverpool

Liverpool with the draw everyone wanted. Two easy ties in the run up to the final.

Bit ironic coming from a city fan who've had laughably easy draws in every cup competition until todays draw.

That could be a big factor.

    They really aren't

    Compare there league record

Last season they let in 29 in total , this season have let in 26 with 11 games still to go.,

Scored 99 last term are 30 behind that on 69, they will get close to last term,

Luis is pretty much the same as last season

He had 25 league goals last year and has 17 this season so far ,
He had 1 champions league goal and has 0 this season,

I think Spurs have a good chance against City. They've been excellent for a really long time, the recent blip is just that and they're a top, top quality team that people are now underestimating. I see it being a very close tie that could go either way.

they're certainly going to have a huge impact on the season anyway given they still have to play liverpool / city in the league and now city twice in the CL! I'd like to see spurs win but City just look so strong at the moment.

Injury and suspension could be huge

Ronaldo, Messi , VVD, Kane, Rashford, De Jong , Militao missing would all effect there teams no end,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

While as a Liverpool fan I obviously wanted Porto, it would be a bit mad to completely rule them out.

16 points in the groups stages (more than any other team), and still capable of scraping out a victory. No team at this stage is a walkover or without talent.

Furthermore, this is not a side that will be naive to Liverpool. They came out of the blocks in home game last year and got hammered on the counter and lost 5 nil. They will not do the same this time around, guaranteed.

They needed to win at home in the 2nd leg vs Roma and they did the job, 3-1, over 30 shots on goal. Albeit extra time was required. Still, no mean feat.

Suarez is definitely sharper the last few months ,he had a knee cyst last season .

Lenglet beside Pique is more reliable than Umtiti ,who had an absolute nightmare last season away to Roma ,himself and Pique were a shambles that night.

Barcelona in Europe the last few years seem to be their own worst enemy though ,they seem to put in inexcusably poor away performances when least expected.

Yeah I'm delighted with the draw to be honest. Made up, all respect to Porto and there's no guarantees at this stage of the cup, but if Liverpool play to the level that they're capable of it should be straightforward.

Over the moon tbh. Fair play to Porto if they knock us out.

All set up for a Messi vs Ronnie final for the best in the world title.

Yes, I know it means Liverpool not there, but a Barca/Juve final would be amazing just for that H2H to happen!

    Juve,City,Barca,Liverpool all too progress.

Yeah but look at the group, Schalke were the other qualifiers. Beating Roma over two legs merits respect though.

On reflection, it's worked out pretty well for City. The teams I would see as their main threats, Liverpool and Barcelona, are in the other half...

If an english team makes the final they will have a 3 week break before the CL final unless they make the FA cup final. Personally dont think thats a good thing. Never understood why the PL didnt start back a week later this year to give players an extra week off after the world cup and finish the season a week later.

Messi v Ronaldo is the dream final, the fact theyve only played in one final against each other down through the years is a bit mad.

Apart from that, Barca v City would be the next best match up.

    Juve v Barca, two goats
City v Barca Pep v his old team,
    United v City derby ,
Juve v United Ronaldo against his old side
Liverpool v City , someone trying to get revenge for the Prem
Liverpool v Ajax to old school giants who have never meet,
Ajax v Porto battle of the underdogs
Spurs v United , does Poch need to join United to win a trophies
Spurs v Liverpool , battle of the bottlers ,can anyone win a trophy

Spurs v liverpool. The first time ever that nobody wins.

I think it could be city liverpool and all the talk will be both teams going for both titles.

But nobody will be getting an easy ride. Some tough ties despite all the crap about ajax and porto being so called weak sides
