    Anyone know a guy in Cork that repairs carbon frames?

    check out alan o riordan, hies in farranfore in kerry, he does surfboards etc-Ive taken my bike to him and taken a lot of other bikes after races etc, as he is near to me.

    Can you ever be confident in the strength of a carbon fibre repair job?

    I'd be very cautious of it, especially a repair done by some random "guy".

    Is the "guy" or any repairer for that matter liable if the repair fails causing injurey? And if so, are they insured?

    Is repairing carbon fibre even a wise practice at all?

    He is very experienced, and does it all the time, he only does work he is confident in.

    Repaired carbon is considered by many to be stronger than the original. Which makes sense when you think about it - you are adding layers over layers, each layer should add support/strength if applied properly.

    Repairing carbon is a well established practice in the US, from what I have read, less so here. For liability reasons even US companies that specialise in this area typically won't repair forks or carbon rims. By all accounts they are safely repairable, but by their nature they are areas of the bike that are more likely to get damaged even if not previously repaired so bring greater risk of being sued.
