Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Leave at the top after the CL win.

Although, had he not won the other night, he was going to be sacked.

Wonder where he'll go now and more importantly, who will they get in.

2 weeks ago Poch might have been favourite but hes just signed a new contract.

    Allegri?

Wenger had interviews this morning bout joining a team with ambition and wanting to test himself. Timing looks weird now.

    Go out on (ZZ) top

He (Wenger) was linked with Madrid years back, I'd have thought at this stage that ship has sailed.

Wegner in? Ever since the random Benitez appointment anything is possible!

I think he'll take some time away, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't manage somewhere again.

I wonder what implication it'll have on Bale, is he more likely to stay now and try impress the new man?

Harry Redknapp. Dead cert for this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,385 ✭✭✭Nerdlingr

Ronaldo might take over. In fairness he did manage Portugal to the euros two years ago.

    or Sam Allerdici?

    Ronnie in as Player/Manager.

The man just got fúcking cooler. I didn't think that was possible.

calmly leaving Real Madrid on what it seems like his own terms.

    Attaboy Zizou, enigmatic as ever.

Conte and Mourinho may be looking at their phones slightly nervously now. Wonder if Arsenal are regretting moving so quickly too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Conte will be out of a job soon you'd reckon but I dont think theyed go for his style if he went there and played pragmatic.

You can't fire me, I quit.

I'd say he will sit back now and take over France after the World Cup,

    Zidane a real class act.

Setien could be the next coach.

You wouldnt know with Perez in charge.
He sacked both Heynckes and Del Bosque after winning Champions leagues although Zidane winning three in a row was probably untouchable for at least 6 months.

Zidane instilled a great will to win in the team ,they pulled a ridiculous amount of matches out of the fire over the last 3 years .
Real under him were a very pragmatic side and Zidane brought through alot of younger players into the side instead of signing Galacticos .
They were a great cup team .

Absolute madness. It's got to be one of the most toxic clubs in the world.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,423 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

Wow. Any manager who takes than on now can only look okay.

Win and they are just winning with a team who were already winning. Lose, and well you get sacked.

    Could be Maurizio Sarri next

A near 70 year old Wenger at Madrid would be an absolute car crash. I almost want to see what it'd be like.

Any chance of Zidane to Juve if the Allegri to Arsenal rumors happen to be true?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

I'd p myself laughing if, more than a decade after they first tried, they bring in the free agent that is Arsene Wenger.

Wenger will be making sure his phone isn't on silent. The ship may have sailed but Perez is (or was at least) a big fan and I can't think of too many other obvious appointments.

Have to congratulate him on quite the run of success. Took over a team of huge egos and got them operating as a very effective unit, playing good football as necessary but with a great edge of steel.

A league and three European Cups in two and a half years is great going. Will be interesting to see what he does next.

Arsenal have appointed a manager. Unless he has already quit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

I think more players and managers should go out like Zidane on his terms .

He retired quite young as a player & wanted to go on top but we all know what happened.

He went out on top as manager at Real Madrid. Very hard & rare thing to do.

9 major trophies in less than two and half years amazing all with an aging squad he wasn't able to add to due to Madrid's transfer ban.

One of the top 5 players of all time and with that record as manager maybe one of the top 5 managers of all time.

Is he now the greatest football man ever.

Be very interested to know if there’s any kind of exit clause in Poch’s Spurs deal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,592 ✭✭✭✭Trigger

Got the notification there, actually shocked me as I thought he would stay after the CL final. Wonder where he will end up now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Stealing Bale and Ronaldo's thunder like a fúcking king too.

In some ways I'm not surprised, he will go down in folklore at Madrid.

Interesting to see who they go with now.

I'm almost a bit sad for those who were relishing him being sacked so the 'most horrible club ever' schtick could again be wheeled out.

    Almost :pac:

If you fancy that get on it. He's nowhere near the betting. Not even quoted

I think he will get the France job after the World Cup and then go on to succeed Florentino Perez.

He might go straight into the higher echelons at Real Madrid.

Wonder if Poch is regretting signing that new contract last week.

PSG will be raging. They've wanted him at the helm and I reckon if they thought he'd be available they would have overlooked Tuchel, which in turn may have seen Tuchel go to Bayern or Arsenal, and a lot of other things would have maybe turned out differently in a domino effect.

Really hope Wenger takes over at Madrid. It would be brilliant. I suspect they may hold out and see what happens at the World Cup. If Lowe retains the World Cup his stock will be high.
