I downloaded a Windows 8 ISO for installing Windows 8.1 from Microsoft site and copied it to a dvd.
I'd like to check whether the version on it is pro or non pro.
I'm trying to check it on Windows 7 so
this command doesn't show whether it is pro or non pro.
    disk /Get-wiminfo /WimFile:D:\sources\boot.wim /index:1
    It only says Windows PE(x64)
    which isn't helpful
I need to know if it's pro or non pro.
I burned it a while ago and didn't write it on the dvd and forgot.

Launch the disc in windows 7 and go as far as install, it will then ask you what version you want to install. It is probably both.

Just launch it, you don't have to instal it.

Also, Windows 8 is dreadful. Full of bugs and incomparability. Upgrade to 10, it's still free.

I second that statement. Windows 10 is far better than 8.

Just doing it for a friend.
I'm still on Windows 7 myself.
Actually you're right Sir Dosser and sugarman I just saw a video about it.
When you go to install it the licence agreement pops up and that's how you know the Windows version.
It doesn't say it on the menu though it just says Windows 8.
I'll give it a go later on the laptop I'm installing it on.
    Thanks.

    Why not install 10?
