Electric gate on an incline/slope

    I've been tasked with organising electric gates for a small private estate (4 houses). The gate opening (5 metres) is on an incline (across the opening) so I'm looking for advice on the type of gate to go for. Hopefully someone on this forum will have had experience of this this of situation.
    There is enough room for the gate to swing 90 degree inwards towards the houses but the gate itself would have to be fabricated as a rhomboid-shaped effort. The fulcrum of the gate is at the top of a quite symmetrical cone-shaped incline so it would swing neatly around with a minimum of groundwork required.
    There is no option of a sliding gate long the wall because of 1. the shape of the "castle-style" pillar (it sticks out) and 2. the light pole 2 metres from the pillar.
    Up-swinging gates seem a lot of effort and potentially dangerous? (happy to be corrected).
    50-50 swinging gates not an option because cars wouldn't be able to get past the open gate to drive down the hill.
    Q1 - is the design a reasonable option?
    Q2 - does the rhomboid-shaped swing gate require a ground track or could it happily swing on a wheel or even suspended in the air?
    Q3 - is it a good idea to incorporate a pedestrian gate (manually pulled open) into the design to save wear and maintenance on the main gate? It would mean building and extra pillar after the path.
    Q4 - the distance to the furthest house is 50 metres wired or 34 metres wireless. Would a wireless intercom system stretch that far?

    Hi OP, OK it can be done.


    Leave the top of the gate as the traditional shape and angle the bottom of it so that it will be parallel with the ground in the open position.
    Will that work do you think?


    My other query is, will that gate pillar in your picture take the weight of the gate?



    Health & Safety :rolleyes:, is now a huge concern with gate automation, therefore do not consider a manually opening section on an auto gate, how about one with a closer fitted to the left of the pillar which you have indicated the gate hinges on ?
