    North Donegal here.
All fine and sunny at present....1hr into the orange alert period.

Maybe they have their window wrong?

Parts of the county are getting hammered. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones.

Some really torrential downpours around now at the moment. Sporadic lightning with more organised cells in the NW

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,862 ✭✭✭daheff

sky looking dark and ominous over Celbridge the last hour...nothing yet though. seems to be very slow moving.

Cant wait.....would it be too greedy to ask for a MASSIVE thunder/lightning storm after the snow we got this year?

Dry and cloudy/misty. Still on the wrong side of the convection and might escape relatively dry but we'll see. In any case some much needed rain for some parts of the East today.

Not a drop of rain in Killiney, thick mist & muggy, feels very jungle-like ;)

Inishowen, quick 5 min shower and a tiny bit of rumbling

Convoy in east Donegal had quite a big thunderstorm, and torrential downpour, lasted about 45 minutes. Didn't seem to get any crashes of lightning very close but it was pretty intense for a while. Its cleared up now for the time being.

There is a circulation just to the west of Dublin moving ENE. We need to be on the western and southern side for real potential cell development and have that wind more off shore.

This could be the case in time this evening.

Right now the sky has a wasted look. That can change quickly though!

Not sure if its been posted before but people should unplug appliances if they are in the midst of a thunder and lightning storm, to protect against power surges.
