I thought we were in for it in Clontarf, got v dark and fog rolling in off the sea but that's passed and I start to see white clouds and blue behind.

A few distant claps of thunder and a flash of lightning in Glanmire. Sun still shining. Lots of clouds to the north.

Nothing so far in macroom, seems to be staying just north of us.....

That storm to the southwest of Dublin still seems to be developing based on my visual observation. The anvil is quite impressive actually and can see new towers growing now underneath the base.

Cavan Town. Light rain shower. Overcast. No sign of lightning or thunder here. Activity seems to be well north of here.

The clouds are now really darkening and they look ominous.

High clouds here in Cork City with some blue patches and sunshine and about 22 degrees. Lovely evening.

How far West are these likely to get ? Galway is being encircled but it looks like there is no westerly progress .

Nothing happening in Athlone area but plenty of thunder & lightning in Mullingar area.

Looks like another excellent performance by the hi-res precip charts with all the activity in the off centre spine of the country just as forecast last night.

Not expecting much here in D9. Boring dull day though brightening up the last while.

It never started here. I was never expecting anything and I won't expect anything. Patchy blue skies at the moment but the sun is hiding behind the clouds.

Better that they are darkening rather than lightening! Sorry but I couldn't resist.

Crazy how localised these events can be... video is from Tinahely and 35km away in Wicklow Town there has been zero rainfall all day other than a light drizzle at 8am.
