Being impatient in the security queue is not good for people with disabilities who find these procedures daunting and challenging.

I do have to seek and get assistance from DAA customer relations to be escorted through security each time I fly because of impatient people crowding me out and trying to push me through the procedure overly quickly.

Because of reports of theft of personal, high value items in the process of going through security, I am naturally anxious not to be caught out especially not to lose cash or documents. I do not like to have people too close behind me in the queue in case stuff gets stolen, The DAA staff are very helpful and get me through successfully each time.

Impatient individuals have caused me and my family much anxiety and tension over the years until we discovered this excellent assistance service from DAA for disabled and anxious flyers. Other aspects of flying do not bother me but dealing with authority figures, security people etc and knowing the right place to be and the right thing to do intimidates me unduly.

Other European airports are not as bad for this barracking behaviour at security queues. The people are more polite and do not crowd other people out and the lines are more heavily monitored by armed guards, probably this helps keep the crowders and pushers more in line. I only find this behaviour at Dublin, esp T1 but not much elsewhere in Europe. I'd imagine the US must be hell.

Never fly into Schipol in Amsterdam.

I once had a pen in my pocket and it had fallen through a hole and lodged itself near my knee. Getting frisked and "what is this ?" I laughed and said "No idea" - before I could realise it was the pen, I hear the click of machine guns !!!!

    Terrifying!!!

Have to say Ryanair's call for alcohol sales before 10am to be banned is them not taking responsibility for their own problems. Why did they let him board? It seems all they care about (between both those cases) is that you don't consume your own alcohol on board.

    This.

I haven’t been flying Ryanair much lately and things might have changed, but I have very clear memories of them being happy to sell vodka shots in plastic pouches to the point of passengers getting very loud/annoying/sick.

They don't sell those any more but I remember they were on offer for 2-1. Each was a UK double so a fiver got you effectively four UK measures.

    Madness!
