Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Best water heating option for small house

Hi, looking for some advice/expertise please.
I am looking at replacing a hot water tank. The house is a smallish 2 bed, no central heating just various electric heaters and open fire, 1 shower with instant hot water, no bath. Washing machine is cold feed. There is currently an average sized hot water tank in a traditional style hot press/airing cupboard but really hot water is only needed for dishes, housework, handwashing, shaving etc. (Unless there is something really obvious I might be forgetting!)
What is the best or most cost effective option to heat and store hot water for such small level of usage?

I had something similar and a plumber suggested an instant hot water heater. (This kind of thing, but seek your plumber's recommendation. https://www.ie.screwfix.com/ariston-3kw-10ltr-undersink-water-heater.html )

I would also get a small dishwasher if it was me (in this particular place this was one thing I actually did, I kept the cylinder in the end). If you use a dishwasher, you just don't need that much hot water at the kitchen sink.

Often you can reach the sink with electric shower hose to fill it. For dishes I used to just boil kettle. For hands, who cares if it’s cold ...
