Getting an engagement ring fixed?

Hi, I broke two of the claws that held one of the three diamonds on my engagement ring. Lukily I found the stone. I brought it to a jewellers this morn and they are sending it off for a quote but they reckon it will be in the region of 4-500 euros. It seems insane to me. Anyone had any experience with getting jewellery fixed?

Not to trigger your alarm bells but be sure you are getting the same stones back.

The thought has crossed my mind. The jeweller is reputable so I really hope they are dealing with a reputable company. I dont really have much of an option or do I???

I got my wedding ring fixed which included a small diamond in Fast fix in Dundrum Town centre for less than €200. They have a jeweller on site which none of the main jewellers had. Two of the main jewellers had also quoted me a lot more than what I paid.
