Surprised it hasn't been mentioned but Aldi Knocknacarra (by B&Q) is closed for renovations.

It's not opening or closing down.
Think they'll have any reopening offers?

Sure that was purpose built and relatively recent too...

What are they doing with it?

Well westside McDs was mentioned for being temporarily closed for the same reason so it came to mind. It may matter to those who need to shop elsewhere for the next few weeks.

As far I know it's just a general renovation, no idea the specifics, but the staff I spoke to seemed in favour of it. I still think of it as the "new" aldi myself.

I think it's great that you alerted people that didn't know that they were closed regardless of whether it's temporary or permanent. Fair play to you :)

    B&Q in Rahoon ya mean?
I hope its a NEW Underground car park entrance accessible once you access the entrance area - the current underground car park entrance is in an absolute daft location. Such a basic planning mistake to make.

Owned by lads from Galway, no Italian connections as far as I know. I believe Massimo loosely translates into The Greatest ðŸ˜႒

I don't think there moving the entrance, I wish they did. There was new road markings this evening so might open again soon, 2 way direction arrows between each set of parked cars.

    Aldi - Rahoon

    finder.eircode.ie says knocknacarra
    ALDI
    WESTERN DISTRIBUTOR ROAD
    KNOCKNACARRA
    GALWAY
    H91 K8W8

but i suppose you'll have a problem with that too as you're getting your kicks

    Not according to this:

But then it also contradicts the previous post when you look up Rahoon here:
    https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/7000844

The above link supports how I think of the area being defined. And google. And An post.

I was joking. You are right. It is Doughiska.
It is a pity that the "Briarhill" Shopping Centre turns its back on the Doughiska Community. It should be facing Doughiska not the N6.

Most of the Doughiska Community is happy to keep it local and shop in Lidl and Iceland.

    The proposed development..
a fast food restaurant and drive thru, with a gross internal floor area of 455m.sq over two levels plus associated corporate signage of 20m.sq to the external façade and surrounds.

Really - did not realise there was some kind of boycott against it. Do you have any further info/documentation on it?

McSwiggans was sold by the Smyth Brothers to Dublin based steakhouse and butchers called FX Buckley. Was kept very low key.

I wonder will they change much. I’ve never been but I’ve heard great things about their places in Dublin.
