Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah said by end of week. So guess Thursday or Friday. Mentioned venues too but thought they're a done deal? Presume Leinster Ulster would be Aviva not RDS?

Hard to imagine Leinster v Ulster won't be at the Aviva.

How many tickets do the away team get? 25%?

We played "in" Europe about 2 weeks ago

Ulster have already emailed season ticket holders to say it's in Lansdowne Road and we have 25% allocation.

I would guess that the Racing v Toulouse game will be the late Sunday game.

Which leaves Leinster v Ulster, Edinburgh v Munster and Saracens v Glasgow.

I think Leinster v Ulster will get the prime-time Saturday evening slot.

Celtic Rangers the Sunday at 12. Dunno would that make a difference for Glasgow or Edinburgh match. Hearts also playing Saturday afternoon at 3 a mile from Murrayfield.

Maybe..... although I think the organisers may want to give that to Saracens.

Great to have it in a neutral venue. Very fair to Ulster. God, we’re so sound.

Wouldn’t matter where it was, Leinster will beat them pulling up.

Glasgow will fancy their chances against Saracens in alliance. The game this weekend was very close for 65 mins and could have gone either way. Sarries cleaned them out on poaches at the breakdown that's the first work on for Glasgow but quite looking forward to the tie again

Saracens won that pretty comfortably...and that was without Farrell.

I think Saracens will win with something to spare. It could be an entertaining game though

Watched the game and always felt Saracens were in second gear even without Farrell. Now if Itoje got injured would give Glasgow a 20% chance but Saracens much too good to lose at home.

Well the Scots aren’t exactly brexiteers. Would be different if we were playing bath or harlequins where might be a Brexit bite to it!

Wonder if they'll have that on the Friday to mitigate any potential travel issues that may arise out of the you know what hitting the fan?

Ditto with Connacht off to Manchester to play Sale

Fixtures will be out Friday so couldn't be bothered tbh. Would think having 1 broadcaster would make it more likely that it will be 2 days. Don't see why they would fragment coverage but will find out end of week.

Hard to see Saracens not being in the final at this stage. They can take Glasgow, Edinburgh and Munster, even if not by a whole lot.

Of the other side of the draw, I think Leinster or maybe Toulouse have the style of play to beat Saracens in a final, not that they'll necessarily get there. Ulster or Racing may win their QFs, and a resulting SF, but I can't see them winning a final against Sarries.

(And isn't that what it's all about, denying Sarries a European Cup win. /s in case that's required)

Saracens are not unbeatable and have a scrum that can be got at. They have been poor enough in the premiership this year and Exeter gave them a big trimming recently. I think Munster have a good chance of making the final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,416 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

They're not unbeatable. No one is.

They do have a mentality however - on top of their obvious quality - that makes them very hard to beat. They do whatever they need to do. They may not always win by 30 points, but they usually do what's required to win. Munster do it as well, to a degree, but Munster (for the moment at least) are far more limited than Sarries overall. Sarries can shut down Munster's physical game well enough, and there's little outside that that makes me think Munster can break down the Saracens defence. On the topic of Exeter, Exeter in the Prem and Exeter in Europe are two very different kettles of fish. Joke from the Subreddit, credit /u/saviouroftheweak:
    6nnz5t5zlfb21.png

Munster are undoubtedly on an upward trajectory, and can absolutely overturn Saracens on their day if Saracens aren't 100% and Munster are, but 8 games out of 10, Sarries win.

Have to beat Edinburgh away first, but after that who knows?

Breakdown of teams is surprising, 5 pro 14,2 Top14 and 1 English.

Both Scots getting through is great for them but the Welsh seem to be just stagnant for whatever reason.

Saracens likely to have a big say but the English have done very poorly overall.

What's your thoughts on Ulster chances against Leinster?

    I'm not confident!

But the one thing I would say is that it has been a while since we have had two full strength sides go head to head. You never know, but I'm not even sure I'd give us a 10% chance of winning. But it is a step forward for us just to be there.

It should be a good day out though.

I’ve already given herself warning that I’ll be going out for pints after that one. Looking forward to it! Should we have a meet up of some sort?

    Need to secure tickets first!

Saracens played their home Semi Final in the Madejski Stadium in Reading in 2016. Reading don’t have a home game on the weekend of the SF this year so it could be there again.

Christ can picture a zebo masterclass beating Munster in the final and it will be kind of bittersweet for him to an extent

Tbf lots of Rugby too be played and Edinburgh could easily beat Munster in the QF and Saracens could have a huge say in things still, think they will have too much for Glasgow again . On the other side of the draw reigning champs Leinster, Racing, Ulster and Toulouse are well capable of beating each other on there day

Going too be great and hopefully it's after another Irish 6Ns win

Good q. Usually find out officially just before qfs I think. Could they opt for a venue in London used by other teams say?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,201 ✭✭✭troyzer

There is very little chance Brexit happens that weekend. It'll probably delayed until May at least, after the tournament.

I think we can start to seriously talk about an all Ireland final. Red vs Blue.

Saracens are good but ultimately can anyone say they've really been tested this year? They've lost against the only good teams they've played against in the Premiership. I think Munster can beat them.
