Has anyone been to Achill Island in their camper recently? Is it ok for wild camping? Any recommendations at all would be appreciated.

Haven't been there this year so far. Have over nighted at Ceim beach and at Meenaun cliffs the far end of Keel beach. Both beautiful spots. Road down to Ceim is spectacular but can have blooms of midges which kept us in the van one evening until we drove off and can be busy. I wouldn't think you'll have any bother, at least that's been my experience. Dugort is worth a spin too and a swim as well.
P.S get some puddings or sausages at Kellys butchers in Newport on your way there.

If you go to Keel Campsite, there are two cark parks near the beach, both had overnights there the last time we were there a few weeks agon. Noone seemed too bothered.

Go past the entrance to the campsite, small park on the right had about half a dozen campers up on the grass along the fence. You can get there by turning down the side road opposite the chipper too.

The other car park is on the left, past the double decker surf school bus, Quieter and more out of the way, but more exposed.
