You absolutely could not make this up. Dont anyone dare suggest again that we cant talk about this ref. I dont care if we win or lose this, this ref is an absolute disgrace.

I'm sorry but this is the type of refereeing performance that needs to be independently looked at. I'm not a fan of calling biased reffing (as opposed to refs feeling the pressure of the home crowd etc) but that is exactly what this is.

Off their feet at so many rucks there. Specifically with Sexton looking to spoil.

    Cooney and Carbery on.

    Diving clear out on Sexton.

If we lose it's on the ref. Hate saying that but utterly inconsistent and inept.

There is going to be a lot of frustration after this game either way.

Regardless of the result..I want Joe to come out and be truthful about this refereeing performance in his presser... otherwise we're wasting our time

Going to be a tense last few minutes, 16 vs 14 is never easy.

    Justice!

Good game, but the inconsistency by the ref was madness.

    Fantastic win.

But one that never should've been as close as it was. We make too much work if scoring trys. Need to be much more clinical.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭MayoForSam

    Despite the ref.

Even with the win, i cant get over how shocking the ref was. I'm still fuming over that yellow on McGrath.

Fantastic result. Gritty as ****. Must more of a beating than the 5 points represent

As a neutral, I have no problems with the reffing.

    Looking forward to the decider.

That's an impressive win given the ridiculous inconsistency of the ref making it way more competitive than it should have been.

    Well deserved win.

It's when you've a victory behind you that you should be complaining about bad refereeing like that.

    Atrocious.

    Thank god for that.

Now let us never see that referee ever, ever again under any circumstances.

I'm delighted with that performance. I think we really stepped it up a gear.

Niall Scannell, really impressed. If he can stay fit for the next 15 months, I'd be more than comfortable with him starting. Solid at the lineout, and carried really well.

Garry Ringrose was superb, his defence is great and he's a really classy playmaker. His distribution is top quality, and Henshaw inside him really benefits from it and allows him to bring his game along too.

POM is a machine. One of the best performances from an Irish backrow I've seen in a long time.

Murray had a couple of blunders and some errant passes. He seemed a lot more comfortable with Sexton outside him, but still doesn't seem to be firing on all cylinders.

You serious? If Ireland weren’t involved in this game I’d still call, that an awful referring performance in the 2nd half.

Who did Cooney come on for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,594 ✭✭✭touts

    Ireland well deserved that win.

Reffing is increasingly a serious problem in Rugby. There are refs out there who clearly shouldn't be anywhere near the pitch and have a track record of suspect decisions but there seems to be no new refs coming through to replace them.

But why, taking into account the 3 deliberate knock ons alone. What made one a yellow card and the other 2 not?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,922 ✭✭✭yosser hughes

Ireland can't give this ref any excuse now, because he will reel that score in.
Can we stop with this please. Yes the ref has made a couple of calls that didn't go our way. But stuff like this is just unneeded and poor taste.

No. People can voice their frustration at inconsistent refereeing as this most certainly was. If you want to backseat mod, go right ahead but I stand by my opinion.
Ireland needed to give themselves that 12 point cushion.

Right, Williams was absolutely atrocious in the second half after a good first half.

However, he was doing exactly what we called for last week, someone to ping Hooper and Pocock.

Where on Earth were our captains? POM was far, far too quiet and didn't put any pressure on him. There is no way Rory Best would have let the ref away with what POM did. Look what happened for McGrath's yellow, it came off the back of Hooper getting into his face after a number of Aussies protested. We were far too timid and too nice in this area.

We won but I am absolutely disgusted at the reffing performance. One of the most biased reffing performances I have ever seen in my life. When I see comments like that I usually roll my eyes at the hyperbole, but its absolutely true in the case and I stand by it 100%.

However you are absolutely right. We are too laboured at times in attack. If we have one weakness its a lack of a rapier cutting edge. Nothing could more clearly illustrate the difference between us and New Zealand than our bluntness in attack.

    Delighted with that win.

But found myself shouting "FŮCK YOU REF. MUST BREAK YOUR ****ING HEART TO BLOW THAT FINAL FŮCKING WHISTLE"

    Not my finest moment.

Consistently penalising on their own 5 meters line, Deliberate knock on and no card and the reverse is a card for Ireland.

    Ref had an absolute nightmare

Like any match, there were bad decisions for both sides. I don't think the ref had any bearing on the outcome of the game, in any case.

Both teams were quite wasteful with opportunities they created.
