Hi folks which of these televisions would you recommend when it comes to picture quality on SD and HD.  I have read a lot of comments about light bleed on the Samsung.  If you have any other recommendations in this price bracket let me know.  Thanks for your help.

    Hi selfbuilder1,

The LG 49UJ800 was a great TV but unfortunately it is now discontinued and no longer available. The Samsung UE49MU6400 is also a great TV though. The 40" version won the What HiFi award for best 40-46" TV. We have one on display and I find it less washed out than the LG TVs and I also found the 49SJ800 was worse when it came to motion processing. Side by side the Samsung handled motion better in my opinion.

The best 49" LED TVs are the Sonys, in terms of colour , contrast and motion, however all of last years models have been discontinued and you would be starting at £1099 for a KD49XF8505.

Let me know what you think.

    Kind regards

    David

    Hi,

Are either of these still available?  I saw them listed on the overstock thread.

    Cheers.

    No problem selfbuilder1,

I would also look at the Panasonic TX50EX700 as a better alternative at £499.

Let me know what you think.

    Kind regards
