Yeah I'll agree with this now, maybe only in some circumstances. Poulter in 16 (par 5), ran off the green, but it was a very poor shot.

Rose and Stenson were on the clock, is Johnson too? Lost over a hole

You don't think they're gonna put one of the golden boys of US golf on the clock in this do you?!

What exactly was said? Or was he just happen to be cursing in general? Not a Gabbo moment I assume?

He said something like "I said f**k in the other one" and then Sarah realised they were on air and started telling him not to swear!

    Lovely stuff.

Wide open and thrills and spills in store for Sunday. Much rather this than a Sunday cakewalk for DJ as looked likely.

Imagine finau or Berger waking up now after a nap!!!

    Oh ****

Delighted to hear top pros and people in industry coming out and totally agreeing with me.

Don't mind that. The ones doing most of the moaning are the ones who can't handle it or don't have the right mindset. That's their problem. The players are always going to seek out an easier course. I don't recall much moaning last year when Koepka won with a score of -16, a tournament that felt more like a Web.com event than the US open.

We can say that it's a farce all we want but even shots that seem harshly punished were shots that missed the target. The targets may be small but that's the challenge. Sergio Garcia had the huff in Augusta a few years back saying it was unfair, how it was a guessing game, and how he hated the course. That was a loser mentality. Let's see what he thinks of it now.

The only one that seemed a bit on the harsh side was 18. 15 was tough too but there were still outshots. In any event this event has a large degree of a test of a mans patience and triumphing through adversity. It's a proper man's tournament to win.

They'll all be faced with a cruel turn, but the guy with no control of his emotions will lash at things, start smacking clubs, slump the shoulders, and be watching the weekends action at home. The more dogged type will let it go and focus on the next shot with confidence in his game. Rose, Koepka and Stenson at the top end of the leadboard, no coincidence.

I loved Eddie Pepperrell's comments about Stenson, along the lines of "ah Sky don't apologise, it's 00:30 there's no kids up"

I'm amazed at the number of pros missing their shots in the wrong places on some of these holes. Sure don't they have refill pad sized green reading books and course guides. Surely they know over the back on 15 or 18 is deadsville

Bad course management will get you in trouble every time

Someone posted a stat that rose was 1/9 GIR for the front 9 and only +1. That kind of luck runs out eventually

Who are the ones moaning of weak mind ?

Zach Johnson is known for his ability to play in very tough conditions

I wouldn't place a bet against Rose or Stenson calling it out for what it is either btw.

I don't really think anyone complained about the course other than the pin locations on some of the holes. Which tbh I don't think anyone can argue with. They looked ridiculous.

13,15,18 and there were a couple more. Ian poulter hit a bunker shot on 15 and I've never seen anything like it. It almost stopped by the hole and then took off and finished off the green. I'm sorry I enjoy the US open test but that's brutal stuff.

Hopefully we won't see those ridiculous pin positions today and they might water the greens. Wind is much reduced today so it should make it a bit more playable.

Whether you agree or otherwise Zach gave an insight and level headed interview. Really classy in a day dominant by brats.

This isn't golf it's a farce, but I have no sympathy for Phil, he should have been dq'd
If parts of the course was a farce what difference did what Phil did make? Also some of the crowd are scum. I’m no fan of Ian Poulter but the heckling of him is disgraceful. The organizers of the competition have a duty to take care of the players. Those fans should be kicked out. Phil Mickleson was correct to treat the organizers and this particular tournament with utter contempt. A few more of them should join him in solidarity.

Fans now chanting "USA" at Poulter after a poor shot.
Organisers are obviously happy to let them at it.

The organizers of this tournament are a disgrace. Heads should roll after this. They won’t though. The old boys club mentality still in control of golf.

Except in the interview afterwards Phil said he should have done the same at Augusta. He completely lost the plot and how it's not a DQ I'll never know.

The level of roaring stupid stuff when a player tees off has reached new depths. How are these morons not escorted from the venue? Now they are getting away with jeering players like Poulter. They should be kicked out for stupid and spiteful behaviour.

The organizers lost the authority to disqualify anyone in my view

Watching the Italian Open when Thorbjorn had a five footer on 18 to win and kill offf local hero Molinari's chance of a playoff. Absolutely hoards of local fans around the green and in the grandstand.

All it would have taken was one clown but you could hear a pin drop all the way through Olesen's setup and putt. Absolute class from the Italians.

The further North East you go in the US the worse it gets. Event junkies who know nothing about sport and can't hold their beer.

Was out yesterday till late so missed everything yesterday.

Did the conditions change significantly throughout the day? Seems like all the guys who were out of the mix got the best of things

Crazy argument, it's the organisers tournament, Phil also blatantly cheated bringing the game into disrepute. But that's Phil all over, total disrespect, just ask Tom Watson

The organizers are bringing the game into disrepute. Their set up and stewarding is a disgrace and they deserve to be treated with disrespect.
