Doing a bit of silage and mowing at the moment, and I see the clutches of grey crows are out.
Now is the time to hit the buggers, before they get too cute to stay out of 12 bore range of the tractor.

That's when the 17hmr comes into play. When they stay way down the far end of the field all smug lookin , then one of them explodes all hell brakes loose. Don't know what hit them

What kind of bait would one use to trap grey crow's only in the middle of a field. I was thinking of getting a sort of net trap.

Think larsen, larsen mate and ladder are the only legal traps you can use fir crows lad.

A few hens eggs, perhaps with one cracked open?

Make a sort of nest shape out of grass etc with cling film at the base.
Then when you place eggs in and crack one open it won't soak into the soil - content will be visible and attractive resting on the clingfilm.

Seems as though they are gone. Just had a look on Solway Feeders, and they sell the average sized one. Dimentions are 16×17×18. when closed so each side is 8×17×18.

Uk traps had a larger one which would be better for greys id say

They say its twice the size of the small one

What is being used as a hinge on the bottom.

Looks like two pieces of "piano hinge" (in any hardware shop)
Cable ties would do the job either.
