Hi, I'm treasurer for an agricultural committee. We wanted to take payments over the phone, whats the easiest/cheapest way to do this?

Also if we wanted to take payment on the gate, whats the easiest scanner method?
    Thanks,
    G&R

Contact a credit card merchant provider.

Usually you can get a card machine for about €15/month. Gsm machines are a little more expensive.

Fees for accepting cards range from about 0.35% for debit cards (cheaper than cash lodgement fee) to about 0.9% for credit cards.

Funds are in your bank account the next day.

Payment Plus is one of the better operator (they represent barclaycard) also AIB (represent First Data) and you also have Elavon.

I would try www.paymentplus.ie first - a lot less red tape involved.

Gsm machine is probably best as it works off mobile network and can be used anywhere. Phone payment can be simply keyed in manually.

Refreshing to see someone who actually knows what they're talking about ;-)
