I was in contact with PAS last monday and im in batch 2.1 and I was told I am next to be offered a job in Cork so not sure who's getting the correct info but will update if I hear from them

I had seen your post and that's why I rang today hoping they would have moved further down batch 2.1 but apparently not. She said there's one more in 1.3 and then they'll be onto 2.1. It's annoying that we're getting contradictory answers alright.

Maybe someone in 1.3 changed their mind about an offer but then you think they would have offered it to next person. Its annoying alright I was hopeful for a call this week but not looking likely now but when I do I will update ye. Its the waiting to know where the offer will be for is the hardest.

Started my position in a garda station 2weeks ago. The man that was training me is now gone to another job in revenue. I am left to figure out anything else I need to know. If I'm stuck I've to ring another station. Is this right? I'm a 1st time clerical officer as I have worked in the private sector for 17yrs. I was expectingI would have had the support of other clerical officers in the building.it was too much to take in 2weeks with alot of different tasks. it's daunting enough starting a new job and then to be left on your own. Is there anything I can do about this or is there anyone in my position too?

Unfortunately this situation is not that unusual in garda stations, no one will expect you to have all the answers just yet though. I always found calling other stations easy and usually the people are very helpful. I am on my third station since I came in off 2016 panel and there has been varying degrees of training in each role. Feel free to pm me if you want :-)

At the moment I feel like quitting.

Don't quit. Just keep doing stuff as best you can and ask your EO to check whatever you have done. That's their job. You will be surprised how much you know by the end of the month. Its probably going to be a steep learning curve but your EO and HEO are there to support you. Use them even if they are not making themselves available.

Can anyone advise what it’s like working as a CO in revenue? What kind of work do you do? Is the training difficult? Any info appreciated.

Also what is CO take home pay per week (starting off) after all deductions 😊

March forth and I was told it was a hard start date so no others would be offered.

Yes they told me that March 4th was definite but that if there were any changes they’d let us know.

Paid weekly. You will have a lump sum pension deduction too. Around 10/15 a week on that wage.

Do you have to work a week in hand before being paid?

    Regarding take home pay -

    http://taxcalc.ie/budget-2019/

This gives you the option to say you’re a public servant and deducts the pension contribution. Also, gives options about being married and whether you are jointly assessed or not.

Might not be 100% accurate but should give you a good idea of what to expect!

Starting Salary is €23,572 from Jan 2019?
    Going by the Circular

Paid weekly but we won’t be paid for two weeks when we start then it’s weekly after that. I asked the guy in Revenue who gave me the call.

I was told by PAS that the start date for Revenue in Limerick is March 4th, never mentioned the 11th. Maybe they are taking on 2 groups of new starts.

If anyone is given the option of starting the 4th or the 11th, I’d recommend you start on the 4th, if possible. Monday the 18th is a bank holiday and you need to have worked 40 hours before the bank holiday to get paid for the day off. Not sure if that’s 40 hours gross or net.

There two figures on that doc

On page 4 it says clerical Officer 24279

On page 6 it says clerical Officer 23572 PPC

Not sure what the difference is, or what PPC means

    That’s the union’s website.

I can’t remember what PPC means either but I know we are definitely starting on €23,572. There is another ‘Higher Scale’ for COs too but we won’t be starting on that.

The salary will be on our contracts anyway. Has anyone got one yet?
