Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey everyone who have been successful, could you tell me roughly how long it takes from when you'd get the Call, to when you'd actually start. What's the minimum amount of time, you'd be waiting etc.

For me it was 5 weeks

It is the norm and you just have to wait, no way to make it quicker, it can take up to 16 weeks.

My vetting was cleared in 48 hrs!
First time being vetted too. 12 weeks seems mental.

Its 12 weeks if you get offered a job within the Dept of Justice its a 3 strand process which is why it takes so long i was waiting 12 weeks

Justice or Gardaí. I wouldn't say Justice is that long of a wait.

There's a list of the competencies they send along with the interview date. Check your message board again. I'm assuming its for the 2018 civil service co panel ??

Congrats Fracture.... just have examples of the competencies as set out in the job description material Teamwork was one of them if I remember. I was also asked about how to send an email using BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) so just know that. They are really nice and make you feel very comfortable in comparison to an interview I had with HSE, they were not so nice. Best of luck, by the way is this for Kerry?... what number were you roughly after tests.... thanks for update.

Yeh, I have the list, I was just kinda wondering if there might be anything else not listed, i've plenty of prep time anyway tho so hopefully i'm fully prepared. Yes, it's the CO 2018 panel.

Well if you look on places of mobility they're mostly in Navan and Trim ..courts, OPW, Guards, Office of Gov procurement etc...
I got my placement today for Meath and was notified for interview 2 hours after.

Hi Fracture, you will do great, as I said earlier they are very nice and will prompt you if needed. There is a minimum score of 20 for each competency and maximum score of 50,

Teamwork, Customer Service & Communication Skills:

Delivery of Results and Information Management/ Processing:

    Drive and Commitment:

Specialist Knowledge, Expertise & Self Development:

I was happy enough with my results. I was interviewed for Limerick and got called but declined the offer as it was too far to travel. I was holding out for county limerick instead of city. I've decided to wait for my 1st choice Kerry to come up so hopefully the panel will move quickly. Best of luck with interview Fracture

Hoped it goes well for you :) they are up to 5 on the limerick 2.1 batch for limerick with a few deferrals to go back to for job offers. It could be August or later before they start on the next batch which you are being interviewed for so enjoy your summer :) I intend to :)

In the interview, is the whole thing taken up with the 4 competencies for the 30 mins? I feel like I will have them covered a lot quicker than that :-0

Sorry if this question has been asked previously but for the guys who've interviewed already what did you wear. I was thinking just slacks, belt and tucked in shirt, nice shoes...or is that too casual. Thanks :)

My interview was a mixed bag. Some went full on suit, some were in jeans and t-shirt. I did like smart casual, black trousers and smart top and heels. Can’t go wrong with trousers and a shirt!:)

I would say for a man under 40 , chinos, a casual blazer and a tucked in "quiet" shirt is the biz. As for shoes anything but trainers and sandals :D:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,106 ✭✭✭katiek102010

I have ordered a dress from next. If that is not OK I will wear black trousers and top

I'm really nervous although I worked there for 10 years. Wish I hadn't t left

I went in my best suit

Figured it was better to overdress than underdress

its advised to have with you your cv and a copy of your application in case there is a reference regarding your work experience/education that you need to visit. I suspect by "notes" you mean examples and answers on the subjects they want to discuss with you. If you keep the conversation natural, fluent and not just reading instead of talking to them ;) i see nothing wrong with that. In fact its a great idea if you think that nerves might get the better of you. Best of luck, you ll do great :)

Carlow have placed 3 in Batch 1.1 so far.
Kilkenny are in the 30’s batch 1.1.
I was called for interview back in September 2018 and still waiting to be placed. It looks like we are in for an extremely long wait ☹️

Lads, does anyone know-if you're offered a position but ask to defer taking it up for a few months-do you keep that position in the dept you were offered- or get offered a different dept when you're ready to start work ?? Just found out I need surgery which will have me out of action for 3-4 months...they're nearly at my number on the panel-haven't been offered as yet, just want to be prepared .
    Many thanks for any info.

Your should to tell them before an offer is made... If they get to your number, they will skip to the next person, once your ready let them know and they will offer you the next available position.

If they make you an offer and you "decline", they are under no obligation to keep you on the panel and make another offer - although in practise they probably would given the circumstances. I'd take the safe option and let them know in advance.

Thanks a mil for your advice. I've read a few posts on here about deferrals so I'd just like to pin it down before I talk to PAS. I'd hate to miss out on a dept I'd really like. I can put my op off for a while but i'd rather not so I just need to get more info about deferrals. Appreciate your reply, thanks again Mike Foxtrot
