Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It was speculated Troy Parrott might make the Spurs bench alongside other youngster Kazaiah Sterling after they trained with the first team, but Poch has decided against that. Team news:
Chelsea XI: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, David Luiz, Emerson; Kante, Jorginho, Barkley; Pedro, Giroud, Hazard.

Tottenham XI: Gazzaniga: Aurier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies: Dier, Winks: Sissoko, Eriksen, Lamela: Llorente.

Spurs lead 1-0 from the first-leg but the bookies have Chelsea as favourites to progress. Who will advance to play Man City in the final?

I'm thinking a Hazard masterclass to see Chelsea through.

Well hopefully he'll relish not being played out of position for a change.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Luiz looks in pain after that tackle by Dier. He's continuing though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,725 ✭✭✭✭blueser

What was Alderweireld complaining about there? Clearly fouled Hazard.

Kante scores with the aid of a deflection or two. All square now.

Kante “nutsed” 3 players with that :D

    Hazard scores! 2-1 Chelsea.

Spurs very much looking like a team missing many of their best players. Can't get anything going.

How was that not a foul on Hazard? Looked a tackle from behind.

    Surely that's a foul/peno?

100% a foul and could well have been a red card too.Awful decision.

It absolutely was a foul, and at least a yellow. He got the ball, sure, but that's irrelevant if it's from behind.

    Isn’t VAR active tonight??

He had taken both of Hazard’s legs in a scissors type movement before he touched the ball. VAR is great, but not when idiots are deciding on what they’re looking at.

Ya it is but if Atkinson can't see a player going through another from 5 yards away, he should be shot.

It was outside the box anyway but I'm not sure will they check it during the break.

Llorente equalises! 2-2 (in the tie).

    Rose did so well there.

And Giroud almost scored straight after.

Lovely goal there. Great pass by Winks, and great cross by Rose.

    Sarri gets booked. :pac:

Giroud or any top 4 striker really shouldn't be missing that. Chelsea will be a serious prospect if Higuain hits the ground running.

Kante losing his cool. We've got a game here.

There was very little in that to be honest.

Don’t think he heard the whistle as he had actually got the free kick and had just played on. That’s why Rose was wondering why he didn’t get a free.

Erikson is such a class act.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

My goodness, that ball from Eriksen.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,199 ✭✭✭Garzorico

Atkinson has lost his grip on the match. Brutle.

What are the carabao rules - extra time and then away goals count? or on to penalties after extra time? Or straight to penalties with no extra time?

Heard them say straight to pens earlier

Thought Rylan was going to stick that away

What a chance to win it. Great run from Emerson and so close from Giroud.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,858 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

And it's pens; Giroud should have won it for Chelsea though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Dire pen from Dier.

    And Moura misses.

    Luiz sends Chelsea through.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,216 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

We didn't deserve to go through, so can't really complain. If Chelsea had a decent finisher, they would have won by a few.

Brilliant to get to the final but fear City are still massive favourites.

Still though, glad to be through in a tough but enjoyable game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,199 ✭✭✭Garzorico

Penalties is a terrible way to settle a game. It’s a team game and peno shootouts are not part of the team narrative.

Not any other decent way to do it. Best of a bad bunch really.

Glad it's the last year of the 2nd leg though...utterly pointless.

Utterly pointless when you team wins the first leg but goes out in the second leg.

Sure they changed it, before after ET, away goals counted so if it went on for 30mins and the score didn't change, spurs go through.

The 2 legged semi final though is a joke, waste of an extra game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,920 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Chelsea fully deserved it over the two legs. Delighted Dier ballooned it, that’s what you get for acting billy big bollocks.

    Awful final so far.

    No mention of var then!

Chelsea making it hard for city but showing little ambition. Prob there best chance of a result with these tactics

Hahahaha that new Paddy Power ad with Rhodri Giggs saying 'loyalty gets you nowhere' drinking from a Man City mug, what are they playing at. :D

Luiz when’s the last time he has scored a free kick , had 2/3 goes on goal this match and have a good chance to have a go and we indulge him to stick one into the stands

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Great chance for Kante. Hazard too good there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,341 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

that was fantastic from Hazard - difficult chance, but a chance for Kante.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,306 ✭✭✭✭Drumpot

That’s possibly the best yellow card possible in a game if you know what I mean... Sterling was through.
