Repeating The LC

Might have to repeat the leaving, would anyone recommend a school? By family friend's I've been told to go either to Yeats in Galway, The Institute in Dublin or O'Connell School. Living in Mayo, this year (aside from the core 3) I am doing Physics, Applied Maths, DCG, French and Business but do not want to do the latter 3 and would like to pick up Economics and Chemistry (I picked them but did not get them in my current school) and not sure on the final one. Anyone have any advice/tips?

    Why not do PLC/Level 5?

Not to sound snobby but I'd honestly refer to repeat cause I have my heart set on a certain course and just afraid that I'll pick a PLC I don't like and end up dropping out

Makes no difference really, unless the thought of someone paying lots of money would make you work harder/differently.
There are plenty places to repeat with excellent reputations and results that do not charge as much as some of those you mentioned.

Would you have to add on the cost of accommodation as well? It could end up very costly.

Re the PLC, if you choose your PLC well you could end up the following year sitting beside someone who got there through doing the Leaving, but you would have a year of college-type assignments behind you and (again depending on the PLC) more specialised study. Is there a PLC entry route into the course you want?

Not 100% sure if there is, the course is an accelerated degree (3 year Bsc) required 509 last year and I've slacked off so may not get that but I am capable of more but not point crying over that, I can do 1 year in general science that is 350 points and then transfer provided I receive certain grades (I've talked to course director about it) but taking in overall costs into consideration, repeating in a school like Yeats would cost around the same maybe even less.

Look, sure wait and see how you go. You may be being over self critical. Your 'slacking off' may well leave you doing much more than other people.

Make sure you have the Science course that you can transfer from as number two so that you definitely get that if you don't get your first choice. No point having it at number 3 and getting offered your 2nd choice.

Fully check out a PLC route into your first choice. Hopefully you won't need any of your alternatives but it will leave you less stressed if you know they are there.
