Moved to the saturday with the juniors so hopefully they can be ran at separate times.

hmm, not good. Very disrespectful to the elite women.

Sad to see the Hillary Hughes biked stolen as she was set ot travel to nationals the other day. Broke into her garage, ripped the controls off the wall, smashed her car rear windscreen to get into the car and take the bike that was inside ready to go.
Please share this in the hope that maybe someone might spot my stolen bike :(

Between midnight and 7am this morning in Milltown Dublin my garage was broken into and back window of my car smashed in. Out of it was taken this Scott Foil 2013 Team Issue bike (black, white and green), with Fast Forward carbon deep section wheels, a wahoo bike computer and a stages power meter.

I had my car packed to hit the road early and head west for the national championships this week. A very unfortunate thing to happen so soon before champs or ever :(

    - please keep your eyes peeled and if you can share this post I would really appreciate it, the guards said the more it is shared on social media the better the chance of getting the bike back,

    Thank you :)

I am thinking of bringing my young lad to the nationals on Sunday. Where would be the best viewing point? Would somewhere on the climb would be a good spot assuming it will be accessible to cars?

    Thanks

Hopefully no repeat of what happened the women's race last year.

i think there is always the threat of this issue reoccurring if the women's race isn't run separately to the men's, hopefully not if put off with Juniors. As the nationals course has to be around/under 16km an average speeds by the men 10kms per hour quicker than the ladies may have them caught within their race time of around 2-2.5 hours. even in ras na mban full of internationals, the average speeds for the flatter stages was under 37 kmph, in the men's nationals last year, first 2 hours in the peloton was just under 44 kmph on a lumpy circuit.

Does the nationals course have to have a max distance? A bigger loop and better timing would solve the problem.

How's his form though? He dropped out of the giro with fatigue. Even if he's recovered, he hasn't raced in so long. In saying that, if he can respond to whatever early action takes place and is still in the reckoning towards the latter part of the race, his experience could well see him win it (though I doubt there's a handy win there for anyone this year).

Nico not in BMC Tour team

Was that in his plans or was he aiming for Vuelta?

I think that was always on the cards after the Giro start. I think I remember that he said it was a later call up to the Giro and his plans would then shift to the Vuelta after that.

Nico over trained for the Giro and was cocked from the off and then with personal issues added to the mix had to retire after 2 weeks racing exhausted

Its a pity but he has been caught from overtraining before in the past but the good thing is he usually comes back stronger after a rest

But he was never up to ride the Tour this year . Hopefully he can have form for the Vuelta and gets to ride that GT as the course really suit him this year

It's a massive undertaking for a club to run the champs. Social media is usually near the bottom of the list of priorities.

The website they have is handy for info: http://irishcyclingchamps.info/

Be good if it was used as the website for it every year.

that's taken at the finale, but far enough away that you don't get to see anything except the reaction.
