There's a large grassland fire in the Oscar Traynor Road/Clonshaugh Industrial Estate area. Several units of DFB are in attendance. I could clearly see the smoke from it from the Inchicore area.

Dublin airport actually reporting nearby smoke.

In other; anyone around N.Dublin? Seems like a fire of sorts has kicked off. Santry area; could just be commercial but not sure. Kermit??

I thought I could smell smoke here in Glasnevin. It's 22.6C here.

And that pattern appears to be continuing into July, 19.4c here at the moment.
Of course it will feel HOT in a well sheltered sun trap but accurate readings are not taken in well sheltered sun traps.

All 3 Dublin weather stations (even the airport!) have recorded above 20c since around 20 June. You must literally be right on the coast.

Dublin Airport just sneaking past 20c again today I'd say.

What's the record for consecutive days above 20c at DA does anyone know? Looking at the forecast there's another 10 days of +20 to go. Could a record be broken?

I flew out of DUB on Thursday (perfectly clear skies) and I saw a fair bit of smoke to the south. There seemed to be some sort of haze in the sky too.

So the east has had a break and the west has had a break from the heat, still haven’t had a “break” down here in the south. Roasting again and I’m delighted we haven’t had a “break” yet :D

It seems we might get a break from the sunshine over the next day or two.Cloudy weather with possibly some showers is likely tomorrow. Not really cooling down to any great extent though.

    Going through reams of sunscreen.

Never use it; stay inside and dress for the weather.

We had one day of blessed cloud before the ball of merciless fire took control again and it gets more stifling every day..

UV can get you through the windows, especially when the sun is so strong.

    That melted my head

why would you need to 'dress for the weather' inside? What weather?

There's a large fire just northwest of Ballinasloe, you can see the smoke on today's satellite pic posted above.

"Dress for the weather"???? flesh that is not exposed cannot scorch and needs no
protection.. loose clothing is cooler too.

Not through closed curtains it can't,

    Just common sense.

Okay that's taking things too far, it's a much lot less than being outside in it though.

Zoomed in, I see it now, it pretty much passes right over my area.

It is safe to say that Shannon has won this heatwave event. They seem to top the list almost every single time. It is a real shame though that Kilkenny city is not tracked by way of Met Ireland stations. I have been there a lot and it does tend to get very warm and I reckon it may have edged Shannon on a lot of the days if it there was a weather station there to track temps.

It's great! Usually Shannon has wind and rain while the east enjoys glorious Sunshine.

I think Gurteen would have very similar temps to a Kilkenny station. I feel it's hotter here in East Limerick than Shannon too but that's the nearest station to me.

usually the dress for this weather is as little as possible, so suncream needed, unless you mean wear pants jumper and balaclava when going outside??

15 on the east coast seems a bit pessimistic

I'd say closer to 20-25 depending on where you are.

    Sweaty Sunday in store!

Dublin City in particular and the center part of the east coast looking particularly chilly in that chart. I would imagine that chart is overplaying the Irish Sea breezes.

The end of the fine weather is potentially coming into view now,in the form of a thundery low from biscay, bringing phenomenal plume heat to france and possibly England, temperatures would in contrast be falling sharply in Oireland,as the atlantic pig muck breaks through.
    Looks unsettled there after.

I hope that this estimate is correct, but I have my doubts though

I have been watching Yr weather forecast website and it had rain forecast for today and for tomorrow, late last week.
Needless to say there's not a cloud in the sky here today and the same will probably apply tomorrow too.
