Totally different morning here on the kildare kildare/Laois border. Completely overcast and not a hint of sunshine. Cool breeze with temperatures hovering around 12c .
Didn’t get any rain yesterday even with the dark clouds but looking very likely again this morning.
Will take a while for this cloud to burn off if it does at all...

It's over. I woke up to a fat lady singing!

Different story in dublin city, very overcast, still warm though.

Overcast (edit, theres the sun) in Clonee with a slight westerly wind cooling things down.

Don’t get me wrong I love the sun but even just to air the house properly this feels like a win today.

Looking at YR the temps are gonna stay over 20 degrees for the coming week with a good amount of sunshine.

    We’ll take that!

    Overcast - South Dublin
Is the cloud due to burn off throughout the day?

Seems odd this morning with cloud/overcast. But the sun's just starting to break through. It's 14.0C. The high temperature for the day since midnight was 20.2C at 0:30 this morning.

Well that was strange waking to overcast and dull in SW DUBLIN !!

Lovely and sunny in the wicklow mountains - only hit the cloud cover in the Dublin suburbs.

Was dull but sun burning thru quite quickly in Ongar, west Dublin now. Temps rising quickly. Brightening up as I head towards city centre by train too!

A lot of cloud in the NW and more to come between now and Sunday

Might even have to issue a rainfall warning for between 0 and 3mm of rain like they did during Winter at one stage "of zero to 3cm of snow"

How come those countries always have enough water to spray over people in the streets during a heatwave when we're not allowed to misuse water here.

totally cloudy and cool morning here, then again it was expected for today.

Looking forward to a return to warm, sunny conditions from tomorrow.

Not looking forward to the eventual breakdown of this spell. After 2 days of Atlantic muck we will all be wishing the warm, sunny weather back.

They haven’t neglected their water infrastructure.

57% of the drinkable water we produce goes in to the ground due to bust pipes. Of course they blame the people using a few litres on watering flowers though.

Slightly overcast at the moment here in Dublin 9. It certainly feels a lot cooler today, compared to the same time in previous days. It's actually very pleasant rather than oppressive.

Heavy drizzle in the West of Galway City and its bone dry in the Eastside of the City, happy out the garden is getting wet lovely and cool as well.

Glacial meltwater in Canada would provide a source of water during hot spells for their rivers in the spring/summer

There's not a lot anyone can do about the pipes right now, that's a long term infrastructure project. People can alter and reduce their usage right now. There's a limited supply of water that doesn't care about fairness or morality, we have to manage it the best way we can.

Is the prediction for over 30 degrees again next week still on the cards? Seems to be all over the media

There is a trend in last 3/4 model runs to erode the strength and duration of the high pressure cell. I’m not sure what exactly it means temperature wise in the mid term but good chance the whole country could be in a brisk and showery northwest airflow by July 14th in my opinion
