    GEM is also a scorcher.

It also wants to keep the heat going beyond next weekend. It's pointing towards possibility of 30+ from Wednesday... onwards!, in places

I would suggest that surface water after heavy rain recently was due to water running off hard ground rather than a high water table. That was certainly the case in my area anyway. It's why in a drought, steady drizzle is far more welcome than heavy rain, as heavy rain just runs off hard surfaces and gathers in certain areas.

    Exactly

So as predicted now we will likely see a Yellow Weather Warning (27 DegC) for some inland counties from next Thursday (Possibly Wed) and even the posibility of a Orange Weather Warning (30 DegC) for some counties into next weekend..

What an amazing year for weather we are having!

It's 8pm, the temperatures aren't particularly warm but my God is there heat in that sun. If it gets to 30c it's going to be exceptional, I might have to consider spending a few hours in Aldi to cool off ;)

Recorded 31.8c in July 2013 here. Current charts showing for next week that my personal record could be under threat.

I've a (white) thermometer in direct sunlight that's showing 26c at the moment. It'll be interesting to see how high it gets when temps in the shade are close to 30c

It's gonna be tough for anyone who has to work outdoors in direct sunlight

This thread is now making me sad

It's the equivalent of one of the snow bunnies going away on a skiing holiday to find the ski resort melted and snowmageddon back in Ireland

Arpege maximum temperatures for Monday and Tuesday. 29c on Tuesday.

20c in Northern Morocco, and 36c in Ireland. Right. :)

If we ever did get above the 35c mark I'd imagine alot of the country would begin to struggle.

ARPEGE for Monday says 29 degrees max. GFS 25 (which is 28-29) and ECM 26. Some good consistency in the +100 or so range
Spot maxima will exceed that so I would be expecting at least a 29 and possible a 30 degree report on Monday.

Sticking to my guns as well that 33.3 record will be gone by this time next month, but most probably by this time next week.

No real end in sight in FI either. Possible thunderstorms galore from 2nd to 5th July followed by a reload:

That would be a good scenario if it can top up our reservoirs and give the farmers some much needed rain. There is a risk of wildfires though, by then a lot of scrub will be like kindling and ground strikes could start fires

theyre talking about us over on the netweather forum

If we are watching records next week, Ireland may be the place. ECM op has it getting to 31C there later next week. All time record just 33C.

As for the UK mainland, the uppers vary day to day after D4 but the temperatures seem unaffected - they just keep going up day by day. Next weekend particularly hot, well into the 30s in the SE I'd guess.

The level of heat next week will only be tempered if a stronger flow of the N Sea develops, unlikely but still possible.
