    Such a day to pick.

Warmest day ever nearly but lets do maintenance

    Its 26c in Shannon

Whether they are doing maintenance is questionable but they must be doing something or have technical issues to have so many not reporting.

yeah 26c in Shannon at noon is a serious temperature. Oak Park and Moore Park (North Cork) are next at 24c. Dublin 19c but will heat up big time by 4pm

The ground all around my weather station is burnt from lack of rainfall and where it isn't it is turning brown. I wonder if this is causing the higher temperatures for my weather station and if they are realistic?

It would be a factor if the grass is especially short and burnt with soil exposed.

However, as that is an environmental cause, not man-made.

Your temps would be reasonably accurate on the Davis (within 0.7c) provided the shield plates are clean - especially between the plates where spiders love to build.

Feels very hot in Galway with the clear skies. I am guessing 26/27

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 796 ✭✭✭Sycamore Tree

East Cork - clear blue skies

Temp - Are you sure this is Ireland Celsius
It does feel very foreign lately. The dry heat is novel.

Highly doubtful that it's maintenance at the stations themsleves - that would be some crew all out at once!!!

More like a broadband issue - are any of the mobile networks down?

The cloud is starting to break up here in Glasnevin. The sun is shining now. It's 21.2C and the RH is much higher than recently at 66%. Met Éireann's rainfall radar was showing a band of rain crossing the east coast in the last couple of hours but nothing reached the ground here.

Reached the magical 25 in Cork City, although it's varying between 24/25. Warmer then yesterday now. Definitely sunnier.

Just hit 25 here in Enniscorthy and I saw someone wearing one of those rain macs. I dunno what weather she's expecting.
Another person was moaning in the bank about the heat while wearing about 4 layers. People are weird.

    Reasonably sunny here in Glendalough.

I checked and they look fine in that regards, I'll keep in mind your findings which you found out by using a Stevenson screen.
Thanks Danno as I appreciate the advise you give.

I'd be very surprised if it reached even 30c here today.

The cloud over Dublin and east Meath really holding temperatures back compared to the rest of the country. Hopefully the warmer temperatures will make there way here in the afternoon.

I can see that cloud from here. Stands out in the eastern sky in the otherwise blue.

Both Shannon and Kerry reporting 27c at 1pm.

Meanwhile it's 26.7c in West Clare, only 0.3c away from my max in the previous heatwave.

Id say wel hit 26c today and 29c by end of week if clear

    31c might be the winner

    What do ye think?

Does anyone expect the 33.3C record to be seriously threatened or is that a step too far?
