Worth noting that the 12Z ECM which has been a degree or two below the mark over the last few days has gone from 28 to 29 for the next couple of days' maximum, and over a much wider area.

I'm still gunning for the record to fall. A little less cofident than I was at the weekend maybe, when the 29 in this image was a 31.

Even if the record is not broken this week, we still have more opportunities during July and August for that to happen.

23.3c here at the moment in West Clare, there's no cooling!

Their site has raw model output, which they (rightly) have been seeing as unrealistic. That's where they earn their euros, using their own experience to refine the output. Spot on correct so far...

You do realize that their TV and Text forecasts are showing 30c?

I haven't seen their TV forecasts, only their website and Twitter feeds.

Was it in today's bulletins or previous days'?

Generally what I do is upload them to tinypic (website) and then I add and around the link.

But yet he started with Yellow Warning? I defend Met Eireann’s use of the warning system a lot but I’m confused in this situation.

Gyazo is very handy. Open it, click and drag, and it uploads automatically. Then just click on the image to get the direct link.

They said on TV yesterday and Today it will exceed 30c and their text forecast has 30c on it.

I find it very surprising that they still report high pollen counts. As someone who suffers from hayfever it's never bad on a very hot day as the air and pollen rise high into the sky. Also the drought type conditions are meaning little grass growth hence less pollen.
I would actually say a very high pollen count is inaccurate at best!!

Mine is very bad, hay fever I mean, in the extreme heat. Many kinds of pollen causing hay fever too. Many kinds of grasses too.

On the topic of hay fever, I only developed it this year! But since then I've had constant sneezing and eyes like I've just smoked a joint.

Their text forecast only says 24-30 (not exceeding it). The latest Harmonie is showing up to 32 in a significant area tomorrow, so at least on their site they're continuing as before. You'd want their TV forecast to tally with that too, though. In any case, hot is the theme...

I got taken to the Office in School during the year accused of being High due to my red eyes after my hayfever. Gotta say they were pretty embarrassed about pulling me to the office over it! :P

Very pleasant evening at Portmarnock Beach. Maybe could have done with it being a shade warmer, just a degree or two but it was still a beautiful evening. Wasn’t mad busy, if the day had been warmer, I reckon it would have been. More people needing to cool themselves off. :P

I achieved my goal of fully dunking myself in the water. Yuss!

If I do nothing else this week, I feel I’ve got my money’s worth. :)

Hayfever is a bitch. Feels like you are breathing in cobwebs all the time. The sore, itchy eyes, the big red, scaldy nose (of which mine is big enough as it is), the brain fog, the sun, the heat, the perpetual daylight...

    Otherwise, I'm good.

I think in Ireland you would need 20c+ at 850mb to see greater than 33c max temp.

I was in New York a few weeks back where the 850’s were around 18c and the flow was from the SW all the way from the Gulf of Mexico. The max in the city that day was 32c.

I’ve been in London (back around 2014) when the 850’s were 20c with a SE flow from the continent and Heathrow had a max of 34.6c.

Both those locations are geographically advantaged over Ireland when it comes to heat for obvious reasons.

I see 850’s peaking between 13c and 16c over Ireland the next 48 hours. Which in my mind will translate to a max of 30c or perhaps 31c at the best. As long as we get strong insolation and no real high cloud. Otherwise we might actually end up just shy of 30c in the end.

I don’t expect the NI record of 30.8c to fall either. Perhaps 30c will be hit west of Lough Neagh. I hope I’m wrong though! Even a 30c on the eastern side of Lough Neagh (where I live) would be great!

Awful pity Gurteen went offline for most of the afternoon. It didn't report a Tmax in the 18Z synop, but hopefully they'll be able to get the data at some stage.

I thought I replied to your exact post on this stating that you were incorrect because June 1887 didn't have such uppers - at all. Not even close.

Wales managed 30.8c today and my money is something similar as an absolutely max for Ireland over the next two days.

Some Irish people love heat. I'm one of them. Extremely dissatisfied with 24 degree weather - give me every ounce of 30 degrees.

I don't get why we can't wish for more heat. We get moderate warm weather in 18-22 degrees nearly every year. Occasional spells of 27-30 degrees is lovely and we don't get it often. Why the heat haters get so oppressed the once in a blue moon it comes around and the want for it to be cooler is mind boggling.

It literally nearly is always cooler!

Well, I suppose just because hot weather is rare doesn’t make some people like it any better. If you don’t like hot weather, you don’t like it.
