Back down to 29.3c here, sitting out the back in the shade it felt okish as there is a good breeze. Despite the recent rain, the soil in the back garden is rock hard, like concreate almost.

    Classic “back down to 29”

Well look on this with joy

The Met Office have released another 10 day trend forecast.

A bit of uncertainty over the thunderstorms of next week, with high pressure and hot weather reloading after next Wednesday. Summer isn't going anywhere.

EDIT: Took out the quoted text as the user deleted their post. Clear misunderstanding, let's move on

Eh, he said people on holidays have air-con and pool etc, not you.

Graces, just logged in to say you seem to have a firm grasp of the wrong end of the stick.

    You're grand. You're amongst friends.
The guys are talking about people on their holidays. Not you in particular

Atherny's top temp during the heatwave in July 2013 was 29.2c, so we have surpassed that today (whether the 30c quoted by Gerry is a rounded figure or not)

Grace, you have taken my post out of context. I understand totally where you are coming from. I was just saying that when we are on holiday, we can get to 'enjoy' the heat better than here at home.

Just going back over yesterday's models show that ARPEGE was over by 2 to 3C in places, AROME was quite accurate but showed a few 32C in places , HIRLAM was quite accurate if a tad under for the Shannon area. ECM is good but showing about 1C under forecast then what was recorded. GFS seems a way under forecast a few days out but corrected itself to about 2C under with the latest run.

WRF- NMM under forecast by about 2C

Shannon still on 30c at 7pm, with the other warmest stations down to 29c.

    29.9 Gurteen
    29.5 Claremorris

    29.0 Belfast Aldergrove

Meanwhile despite their own model forecasting up to 35, their website up to 36, other models up to 34, and achieving 31 - no orange warning.

Not often I criticise Met Éireann but whoever is organising their warnings needs to wake up and smell the hayfever. Either the criteria are valid or they're not. Decide.

Going by the AROME's fairly accurate record even if you knock off 1 or 2C could still get 30C + in many parts tomorrow it would seem. Looks like Galway Region might be the hottest .

Athenry 31C perhaps late afternoon / early evening.

Very interesting smoke plume from the Manchester forest fire making a bee-line for the north Dublin, Louth coast.

Just passing through Limerick, 30C at 19:00h
    27% rh.

I could do with this type of weather all the time, so dry.

ECM very similar forecast to yesterdays probably add 1C or so going by it's record or maybe it will get a better handle on temperatures as the days go on ?

( Not showing Galway as hot as AROME )
