temps possibly heading back to the low 20s in eastern areas if that happens?

Air is very warm on the ECM by Wednesday and is a southeasterly - southerly airflow over Ireland so southeastern and southern coasts a little cooler. A slight sea breeze in the east but nothing to moan about.

More devastating output for those that decided to go abroad on holiday in this period.

ooh im so excited. Delighted the south will get warmth, and even happier that its the entire country at this point (sorry heat haters! :) )

I dunno, I think Wales will be warm enough :pac:

As they say, ECM 12z was a downgrade. Not majorly so, still very warm. Just a variation of a theme and relatively cooler upper air temperatures. More bearable in other words.

It shows the blip that the GFS 0z showed at +240 hrs but that is likely to change.

Most of us left in Ireland will be in work so I hope employers in physical and outdoor jobs will exercise due care as regards exposure and fluids.

Im delighted for the state exam classes though, they deserve a bit of summer after the slog.

Did I read correctly somewhere that Met Eireann will issue yellow, orange and possibly red alerts if the temperatures go high to very high ?.I think that's potentially losing the plot.

They exist for a reason. Excess heat can be worse than extreme cold for those vulnerable (v young, v old, respiratory conditions). Certain folk will need to be extra careful.

Lord, but I love this thread!! Thanks to all contributors.

It's the bally ballyness of it that makes it all seem so bally bally.

GFS max temps for tomorrow week, a little outside reliable timeframe. Usually undercooked a bit (think others have said add at least 3 or 4 degrees?)

It is the one that comes with iPhone. So that would be the weather channel, generally it is fairly accurate.

those temperatures definitely overcooked in that chart.
36C over Leinster, 32C over the Irish sea.

I'd love if those temperatures came off but very unlikely.

It's not about reading the chart wrong. It's about not noticing what model it is..... NAVGEM which is the extreme side of the models. Last year it was going for 42c in London for instance.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,061 ✭✭✭irishfeen

Imagine the state of the roads in Ireland at 35degC - it would be like rivers of Tarmac :)
