A good few stations starting off with higher base temperatures this morning. Could we beat 32c today?

Definitely. Claremorris has been high up on the temperature charts all week and this morning is by far the hottest feeling. The humidity has been gradually climbing too which isn't helping anyone that has already been struggling.

I have a feeling that the national record could be broken today.

Limerick at 10am is very warm.

My house seems opposite to most. If I keep all the windows closed the house is lovley and cool. Open a window for an hour and the place heats up instantly

UKMO giving another fortnight at least of heat. A brief thundery interlude on Sunday but the heat keeps coming. Perhaps the Northwest will 'only' be about 25c.

Shorts and sandals man in those maternity hospitals. I learnt that the hard way after nearly fainting with heat the first time around.

That doesn't really tie in with what M.T. is forecasting.

Anybody else think it's far too hot! Sure, we're not built for this.

In-law is in the Coombe just after giving birth. Apparently the heating in the NICU was only switched off on Tuesday

To be fair, maternity hospitals are usually kept extra warm, so the idea of installing a cooling system into really old buildings was probably seen as unnecessary waste.

Even the Coombe is the newest and it's fifty years old. Imagine trying to retrofit AC into a 200 year old hospital!

That's exactly what MT is saying :)
OUTLOOK ... Gradually the pattern may relax with more frequent cloud, some rain at times, and temperatures closer to normal although not likely to fall much below 23 C daytimes. Eventually it could turn significantly cooler for a few days with chances for heavier rainfalls mid-July.
Cooler, but warm and mostly dry until mid-July (i.e. a fortnite)

will the weather be cooling a bit this weekend? Or are we in for more of the same?

Cooler, low to mid 20s (high 20s on Saturday for some) compared to mostly mid to high 20s and localised 30s.

the high morning temperatures we are currently experiencing would be similar to the afternoon temperatures we will experience after tomorrow. e.g. 21-25C.

While definitely cooler than the 27-30C that most areas have been getting recently, it is still very warm for Ireland and very pleasant. It's going to be a while before we get back down to the 15-18C maxes.

I blame the government and Leo. What are they going to do about this heat.

What does the independent alliance have to say about it 😀

ECMWF this morning going for cooler (though still warm and more humid) weather for next week with potential for some rain and thunderstorms, after that another large area of high pressure rebuilds over us

    ECM1-240_uda5.GIF

*If* things play out like that then it'll start becoming reminiscent of '95 where the only breaks in the weather were humid thundery days. GFS goes for a return to the Atlantic next week though (doesn't it always ) so nothing nailed on yet

Bookmakers are now offering odds of 6/4 that the record will go in 2018.

Yeah we had July Twins and it was a "baltic" 24c that day on 24th July.

it was very difficult for her.

But we got through it and now the twins had their first ever full swim in the sea yesterday at Rosses Point. By full swim I mean actually swimming and not splashing freezing water all over me like the other 6 years.

    Best of luck to ye.

If this dry pattern is to reload again, it might be no harm now to start picking up the huge 5/10L water bottles to have stockpiled before any heavy water restrictions kick in and there's a rush on them.

Sryanbruen do you think we will get these showers from the south on Sunday and if we do how far north will they come
