Despite all the different technologies and platforms which are available today whenever I've listened to vinyl it still sounds superior to anything else out there does anyone else feel the same way.

Only under certain conditions. You need to invest in a good setup to get value out of vinyl.

In terms of a trade-off between sound quality and practicality, CDs win hands down for me.
