Waist bag - recommendations?

Following on from the 'saddle bag' thread :)

My waist-bag is finally more hole than bag, so I'm looking for a replacement. Something with one large compartment ideally; most of what I see these days is highly compartmental to the point where a mini-pump won't fit.

Be using this on day-long spins and commutes, not racing.

    Grateful for any recommendations!

If you mount the mini-pump to your bottle cage then you won't need to carry it.

True, in fact I could mount it to my down-tube with a strap I already own now that I think of it.

In that case, does anyone have a favourite waist-bag they could recommend, regardless of form? Ta!

Is waist bag just cool talk for a bum bag?

Why use one? A genuine question...would a saddle bag not be less awkward, sweaty, etc?

Bum-bag, yup. Seems a bit 1986 as a word tho, like 'bermuda shorts'.

I like having pockets on hand for phone, food, bits like that. Currently also have my mini pump, cables and latex gloves in there. Keys too. Just habit at this stage.

    get some cheap cycling jerseys?
i carry most of the above in my jersey pockets. mini pump is attached to the frame; tubes, spare quick link, tyre levers and mini-tool in a saddle bag.

Good, I thought it was so you didn't have to stop for a wee.

The one time I used my jersey for phone carrying, the sweat nearly ended it. The bum-bag keeps things dry in the rain, also.

OP, check out this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lowe-Alpine-Fjell-Waist-Bag/dp/B00R50DFBO/ , I don't use it for cycling but use it daily dog walking and it carries really well holding, waterproofs, dog grooming gear, a tennis ball, small first aid kit, compact binoculars etc ......

Same company does a good few other larger bags if you need them.

Plenty of fanny packs available now as they're all the rage for enduro. I have a 3L Evoc one, comes with a bladder too.

I find putting it in a sandwich bag works, actually I put just about everything into sandwich bags then in the jersey pockets. I don't even need a saddle bag.

I don't think anything could make them cool.

Is it not easier to stop for a few seconds for a 'comfort break'?

I've always found a wheelbarrow way more efficient for gravel.

Not when you're female wearing bibshorts, jersey and baggies. ;)

Thanks to everyone who has tried to talk me out of continuing to wear a bum-bag.

Special thanks to everyone who answered my question.

Why do you bring latex gloves ? I never carry latex gloves. Should I have latex gloves with me ?

To stop you hands getting covered in dirt if you have to sort out a tyre or a chain?

....and on a very cold and wet ride, when your gloves are soaked through, they can be worn under the ordinary gloves to maintain some heat.

I'd rarely go out on a ride without latex gloves.
