    1. No date is usually given for completion.
    2. That's something you would have to ask the developer, depends on a lot of different things

    Are you asking about a contract for a new build, and the date when the build is expected to be completed?

    Or a contract for the sale and purchase of an existing house, and the date when the sale and purchase will be completed?

    The standard is 28 days, which is entirely negotiable.

    The contract will usually specify a completion date. Occasionally it will express the date in terms of a time limit after an event ("10 business days after mortgage approval"). Where, as is common, the contract is subject to conditions, there has to be some flexibility around the completion date; what if the date comes but some of the conditions have not been satisfied? So even if you have a contractual date, it's not unknown for that to be varied by agreement in the light of events.

    But, yeah, the contract usually does get quite specific about when the sale is to complete, and contains provisions for what happens if it doesn't complete at that time because of the default of one of the parties.
