You have to feel for Cronin. Guy has no luck.

Looking at the primary focus of Schmidt is to add depth to the squad in as many positions as possible, the full back situation looks the least addressed. The previous back-ups to RK were Zebo and to a lesser extent Payne, both of whom are no longer in the reckoning.

I think it would be beneficial for Ireland if Larmour spends a lot of next season at full back for Leinster.

While that is probably true based on time that the incumbent time on the pitch, lack of time for reserves, I'd be much more comfortable if he went down rather than Murray. We have several options at full back I would be happy with, arguably would offer more in certain aspects than RK. At scrum half, any potential replacement is inferior in every aspect of the game, significantly in some cases. We are so reliant on Murray.

Team bus 30 mins late getting to the stadium. Hopefully it will be a non issue by the end of the game.

Going to come down to a few points I think.
    Great scrum

Just keep popping it to Furlong until he inevitably breaks every tackle and ploughs over the try line.

Pocock on his knee getting that.. Here we go again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,842 ✭✭✭✭bilston

Ah come on Pocock had both knees on the ground there.

Bloody Pocock went past the ruck earlier right in front of Peyper and nothing given.

    We're at it again

Falou commits a probable red card offense, ref doesn't blow it up - until Ireland turn it into a huge break away... because he blows it up for a knock on against the possibly seriously injured POM. My stream cut for a moment but I heard Sexton asked for TMO and ref said he's already referred to him and is happy with it... only to then have the TMO then call in to overrule him and leaving him with no option but to card Falou... so yellow it is.

Then a very clear and deliberate offside minutes later, stone wall, caught perfectly on camera... no card.

    This is just ropey.

    So broken I take it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

    Nobody following this?

12-9 ht, 1 yellow each, the one for folau was harsh imo.

Once again Ireland have much more possession/territory but can't convert, while Australia are more clinical in good positions. Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite us.

This will be decided by a last minute penalty or one magic line break.

Shane Horgan has a serious dislike for Bundee Aki. One of the best players on the pitch in the first half and still Horgan takes pot shots.

Jeez Kearney very poor there for that try.

I know the attention will be on the series win, but that was also a lovely send off for Jordi Murphy, as he now retires from the game of winning.

    Where was the hotel?

I lived in Kingsford which is the other side of Sydney to the city centre and passed Moore Park on the way to work every day. In rush hour on a weekday, on a public bus, it would take about 30 minutes to get from Kingsford to the city centre, if I recall Moore Park to downtown was about 20 minutes of that.

This was a Saturday afternoon, unless they were a bit out of the way the entire journey should not have taken 30 minutes, never mind 30 minutes late. None of it adds up whatsoever.

    Why is nobody saying anything?

Website was down from 7.30ish this morning until just now for me.

As has been the case for just about every game of all of the tours, the ref is rightly getting slated. That was a special kind of awful on so many levels.

Not a sterling performance, but a win in Aus is a win in Aus, doing it in the face of such unashamedly dreadful officiating is a mix of bittersweet and satisfying.

Very fortunate to win that I think. Some of our most experienced players made some horrendous decisions. Most noticeably Murray giving away an obvious penalty for offside when we'd diffused an promising Oz attack. Gave the ball right back to them.

Delighted to win ofc and I think we were the better side over the three tests. We weren't particularly good today though.

To win a game like that while playing quite poorly is a very new experience as an Irish rugby fan.

Delighted but it was an extremely frustrating watch.

Good win today in a series with 3 good games for the neutral. Looks like the Irish in Oz helped the stadium attendances. The Wallabies are super competitive and on the up.

Positive: real strength in depth across the squad

Negative: not clinical in finishing off chances.

Larmour being given a run at 15 gives us a lot more options on the counter. He could well usurp R Kearney for autumn. Centre is still a worry on the attacking front.

A series win Down Under is a great achievement though.

Meant to post earlier, trying to let my fingers grow back as I chewed them off looking at the final TMO decision.

Great match, and great to see young blood performing do well. Thought the commentators remark that Lamour was still young enough to sleep with the light on was hilarious!

Love Devin but his place in the field is not in a ruck anymore.. :(

Missed the match thread but what a day for Irish rugby and what a series win

We have a series squad at our hands and the next step for this year is beating the ABs in Dublin and we move on from there. Tickets will be like gold

Great series win for Ireland. If they didn't have the rub of the green in the previous match, they had things go their way in this match. I think Aussie can still improve a lot, and Ireland also have plenty to work on.

What summed this match up for me was the Aussie halfback getting called for a forward pass on a line ball, then Murray throws a forward pass to sexton after the resulting scrum, but not called forward :pac:
