    Hi all,

I am in my mid twenties but feel like I have gone back in time to when I was doing the leaving cert, a time when I was unsure of what direction to take in college due to not knowing what courses really entailed.

I have just after finishing a postgraduate diploma in finance. I have one final module left in my QFA and have a degree in Mechanical Engineering Degree from Trinity College from a few years back. I am currently working in the pensions industry with a brokerage that specialises in self directed schemes. Have been there for two years and feel like the time is coming for me to move on. The main reason for my decision is that while I like a lot of aspects of the role, I want to steer myself away from pensions and more towards an investment role.

I know that is a very broad statement but I just don't know what is out there and what sort of job would suit my background. Where do I even look for advice? I tried contacting some recruitment agencies but their advice has been very poor. They are all just trying to push me into whatever role they have on their desk in front of them without even taking the time to see where I have come from and where I am going.

From conversations with friends I have heard that the fund accounting space is quite strong in Dublin. This would be a good move I think as my experience in pension portfolio administration lines up quite nicely with the spec for this role. My question on this would be is there the opportunity to grow and develop in this role or is it quite pigeonholed? Are there any other roles in Dublin that would be suitable?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated or if you want to know anything more then give me a shout. I'm really thankful. Just feel a little lost I guess!

    Cheers.
    G
