Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thought the tackle was on the shoulder first and slipped up. Very harsh red.

The 2 Australian locks causing us all sorts of problems too.

Looking at the replays - should straight to the head is fine, but a clumsy tackle where the first point of contact was neither the head or neck gets a red.

I think that's a shocking decision, maybe I'm blinded by bias.

That was a red all day, the player even knew it as he commited the tackle

Looked like he was feigning a head knock for a second and then thought better of it.

He knew he was in trouble, but I can't see why that is a red based on all the rugby I've watched this year.

Will be flying a lot of players to Japan if that is what qualified for a ban.

Baird’s reaction didn’t help him I would guess. I thought it was worse first based on that alone, likely made impression on ref.

In fairness, the way this ref has approached the new directives, there's every chance Ireland can get it back to 14 v 14. Just keep attacking and wait for a high shot.

  • Registered Users Posts: 379 ✭✭Lucas44

Never a high tackle for that kick into the corner, kernohan just steamrolled him

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭DonVito

    Another yellow card surely.

  • Registered Users Posts: 379 ✭✭Lucas44

    Held up here surely?

Said it during the English game that in a pro game the flannery try would of been very questionable but there is no chance Casey got that down, two very big calls going our way

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭DonVito

Oh jeez. This game is certainly 'interesting' as far as the officiating is concerned. He never got that down.

    He was definitely held up

Another red card coming. 15 v 13 coming.

  • Registered Users Posts: 379 ✭✭Lucas44

This ref is awful as bad as that clear out was how did he miss it right in front of him

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

    That’s a red

That's entirely possibly a red. Much more so than the last one.

Bloody stupid thing to do at the best of times, absolutely idiotic to do it a man down.

Ref's looking for a reason to not give a red card, but they've been given before.

Stupid tackle, that should have been red

  • Registered Users Posts: 569 ✭✭✭Hands Like Flippers

    Great escape there

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭DonVito

What is happening in this game. No card there but a yellow earlier in the game.

    Bahahahahahaa

    Oh, wow. Penalty only.

I've no idea anymore. Thought that would be minimum yellow, very possibly red. Much more dangerous than the red card tackle.

    I give up.

The officiating in this tournament needs to be seriously looked at by world rugby imagine this going on in a senior game haha

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

Communication saved us there. Ref can’t see a thing and TMO says landed on his back. But he meant landed on Irish players back. It’s defo a red

  • Registered Users Posts: 893 ✭✭✭Deisegodeo

Could easily have been red. An eventful first half for sure

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

Australians so strong in defence. They are dominant at the ruck. We are really struggling to shift them.

Don’t understand how he could see the screen for bairds red but couldn’t see caseys grounding when he’s right underneath it and the clearout hahah, this ref and tmo are absolute cowboys yeehaw

Personally I'd be dropping Flannery back to 15 and bringing Healy on. Ireland are getting out wide well enough but there's no real momentum when they do so. Healy should turn the Aussie back a bit more and get Moore and Turner carrying more direct.

    Oz linespeed slower now.

    Why not DG?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,806 ✭✭✭corny

    We're wearing them down.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,450 ✭✭✭Wegians89

If a player is injured you can replace them in the squad but say Baird gets a 8 week ban for the red and would be suspended for the remainder of the tournament could he be replaced in the squad? And would the senior World Cup be the same?

Nice headlock by the Aussie 10.

  • Registered Users Posts: 569 ✭✭✭Hands Like Flippers

It's OK to tackle round the neck if near the goal line?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,147 ✭✭✭testtech05

It's annoying how often foul play is allowed once the try isn't scored!
There was a headlock/neck roll there are the very least. Hodnett was twisted in a dangerous way!

There's been numerous of those which have been ignored.

Tackle around the neck in the previous play

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,233 ✭✭✭ClanofLams

Ridiculous no yellow card for three penalties two metres from the line

Can only be replaced for medical or compassionate reasons.

This is great defense from the Aussie, Ireland are doing are great time of possession rugby with all this attack, how there isn't a card for Oz with all these penalties

    Same for casey's

They were offside twice in front of the goal line in the first half too. That's at least 5 offsides 5m out.

Wow, ballsy to call a 7 man scrum under the posts.

    COME ON

    Haha. Reversal

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,147 ✭✭✭testtech05

Fair play to the ref for overturn that penalty should be done more often!

Well done ref for the reversal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭DonVito

Wouldn't have taken a shot. Keep them deep in their half. They've been given an out now.

Edit: But then they go and do that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,806 ✭✭✭corny

Was that the Aussie captain he punished?

    Same for casey's

Very hard not to go around the neck when diving for the line when the player is diving head first with his arms out. Same as picking and going
