Nice to see some post 2008 5 Series petrols on the market, rare as fook.

That's a nice car. 8 owners could be a tax arrears avoidance thing though €750 is hardly end of the world stuff on that size petrol engine.

Interestingly enough its an original Irish car too

Ex BMW Ireland car I'd say.

I’d always wonder how well the car has been maintained if paying the tax was too expensive for the owner.

Very possible but some people do go to some lengths to avoid paying motor tax especially when all you had to do before was get the local garda station to stamp the not been used declaration.

If it is 750 a year to tax I really doubt the owners would go into removing the arrears this way.

Especially as the car is rather expensive to start with.

It's usually cheap large engined pre 08 cars that get extra owners. Not few years old BMW.

Saving money by dodging tax surely is countered by the depreciation caused by the increased number in owners?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,278 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

These cars suffer steep depreciation either way.

But even more if there are so many owners?

    That's my point.

Very low mileage for that many owners

Could it be that the fuel consumption has put a succession of owners off?
Visually it looks very much like the M-Sport 520d, which is going to be a lot cheaper to run.

It's an SE with an m sport kit. I reckon there is a story with that car.

    Possibly used for money laundering.

Would depend on the pattern of ownership changes I guess. It's more common these days for people to change ownership between relatives to avoid tax arrears than it would have been a few years ago. You would really need to look into the history of the car to join the dots.

I doubt very much that someone looking for 520d fuel economy would be buying a 535i to begin with.

Motorcheck does show it as a SE alright.

I vaguely remember that they might have only sold one version of the F10 535i in Ireland and it was a SE spec with a good few M Sport bits fitted as standard. That car does sit a bit high for a M Sport but if it had DDC specced back then I think they would have needed the SE suspension specced too as you could not spec the M Sport suspension and DDC together back then.

I cannot find anything online about the 535i spec now but it certainly rings a bell with me.

It’s a pretty convincing M Sport replica to be honest!

There are plenty of petrol 535s and 550s going around Dublin 4 and 6 wearing diplomatic plates. I would guess the above was probably one too

Company car for its first 18 months...next owner had it 5 months, then another for 6 mere days, the next for a month then the next for sub 4 months! Fifth owner had it for 2 and a half years though, it also has a 'condition' warning meaning it was involved in a tip. Since 2017 it's had 4 owners, two for 3 months each, one for 6 months and the current one for 4 months. A curious history indeed.

I would imagine the “company” owner was an embassy? I’ve been dealing with a few cars belonging to religious orders and they flag up the same

Hey man best of luck with the sale. Love the look of the RCZ

I'd recommend popping up a few pics of the interior and also I'm not sure if the rear driver side wheel is badly kerbed or just dirty but it doesn't look quite right.

Not trying to be negative as the service history details in the ad is great and would really attract me to the car

Not sure if any of you remember my Dad was selling his Mazda 626 last year. I posted it in the bangernomics thread.
It was owned by my Nannys brother from new and Dad kept it for a while after his passing.
Anyway, he let it off for around €800 last year... I spotted it on donedeal today.. lol!!
Dreamers thread I'm thinking. Fair play if he can flip it for a profit, but €4k..??

Nice car but my wife wouldn't fit in it....might be a positive!
    Good luck with the sale

An extra zero on the end of that 626 I would think

    I like this.
Can anyone comment on the limp mode fault?
Is that a big red flag or a simple fix?
I guess if it was a simple fix the dealer selling it would fix it!
Did I just answer my own question?:pac:

VCDS/vagcom software should tell you exactly what it is. MAF sensir/wiring or whatever.

Dealer may only have a generic handheld that isnt showing up any fault code.
