Excellent, we get the honour of the great man on our tv once again.

"Kids in the game these days have no fear of anyone" should be one of the many, many clichés we'll be hearing about 500 times.

I'll reserve judgement on Taylor as a commentator/analyst until I hear him.

    Reckon he'll be insufferable though

They practice together as well.. So no reason for Lennon to fear him

    TbL

Top 16 PDC Order of Merit are seeded, top 16 ProTour Order of Merit (who haven't qualified as seeds) are unseeded.

Cadby was nowhere close to qualifying, Richard North (ranked 31) being last man in.

Some amazing value in the betting for this, each way at least. Lewis back in some bit of form an loves the matchplay, same with Wade. Smith coming off a win last week.

Lewis has a tough side of the draw, I think Wade is a good each way bet and will on him myself.

Didn't even see the draw yet bring honest. I've only backed Smith each way so far. Wade is definitely one to watch he played deadly hammering mvg last week

Assuming the usual structure of 1v16, 1v8, 1v4 etc it'll be

    Top Half.

Michael van Gerwen (1) v Jeffrey de Zwaan
Adrian Lewis (16) v James Wilson
Dave Chisnall (8) v Keegan Brown
Michael Smith (9) v Jonny Clayton
    Q2
Gary Anderson (4) v Stephen Bunting
Raymond van Barneveld (13) v Kyle Anderson
Daryl Gurney (5) v Steve West
Gerwyn Price (12) v Joe Cullen

    Bottom Half.
    Q3
Peter Wright (2) v Jelle Klaasen
Kim Huybrechts (15) v John Henderson
Simon Whitlock (7) v Richard North
James Wade (10) v Jermaine Wattimena
    Q4
Rob Cross (3) v Mervyn King
Darren Webster (14) v Steve Lennon
Mensur Suljovic (6) v Steve Beaton
Ian White (11) v Max Hopp

Hmmm, I just logged in to post the opposite - think he's fine so far and a nice change from the Mardle/Rod shoutiness & hyperbole.

I agree. He's been fine so far. He was such a strong player mentally and it's interesting (so far) to hear his thoughts on Lewis' headspace throughout this match.

Well hopefully van Gerwin/DeZwaan will give us some better entertainment than Chisnell/Brown, that was painful to watch. Strange to see a player give up so completely in what is supposedly one of the biggest tournament of the year.

van Gerwin buckling a bit here. definitely feeling some pressure @ 6-6

    Wow mvg 10-6 loss

Amazing performance by De Zwaan - twice he's beaten him on TV this year. Could be a future rivalry, JDZ's scoring power is immnse

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,700 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

pretty straightforward win for DeZwaan in the end. Fair play to him, he never waivered with the finish line in sight.

JdZ looks the real deal - cool, composed, solid scoring, decent doubling.

MVG has lost a noticeable amount of weight, wonder is that an issue with his mixed recent form.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,939 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Las Vegas and Shanghai tournaments in the last fortnight. Looked like travel caught up with a MVG. He should of been focusing on the Matchplay seems like he needs to win everything. Only winner is Barry Hearns bank account

Not sure about the solid scoring AJ, how many 180's did he have? Low enough average too, fair play to him but MVG had a serious off day

Lennon currently 8-6 down against Webster, would love to see him beat Webster but not looking likely.

Don't like Gurney but that was a lovely bull finish, who'll blink first!!
