I'm travelling to the Irish open this weekend which is being hosted in Ballyliffin Co. Donegal. However due to limited accommodation close to the golf course we are saying in Derry.... I was wondering if anyone knows if there are busses running from Derry to Ballyliffin during the competition.. specifically Saturday the 7th July.

I haven't heard of anything specific yet to go from Derry direct to Ballyliffin, but there are ordinary service buses ok from Derry to Carndonagh or Derry to Buncrana, and then from Buncrana or Carndonagh there are free buses out to the course on a constant loop.

Here's the Derry - Carn timetable, operated by Foyle Coaches/NW Busways

And here's the Derry - Buncrana timetable

I'm surprised there is nothing from Derry direct to course, as I'm sure a lot of fans will be staying in Derry, its not that far away from Ballyliffin. Plus Derry City Council have helped pay for the tournament to come to the region and they have a vested interest in it.

There's a message at the end of the new bridge (the big bridge in derry and the newer one) and i'm sure it mentioned park and ride, if i see it later i will post the message.

    Local paper has this info.

Haven't seen this sign yet, but there is definitely no park n ride in Buncrana, Carndonagh, Clonmany, and the Guards have been quick to alert people that if they drive to either of these 3 places, any cars left illegally parked will be subject to the usual fines/clamping/towed away.

    So be careful.

There is ample parking at the course itself apparently, and free, so if driving might be best to head out to the course.
