Hello. Need to park around NUI Galway for a week hence wondering if anyone was kind enough to share some tips of where I could possibly find FREE or Cheap Parking around the college?
    With many thanks in advance.

They have a park and ride on the Newcastle Road. http://www.nuigalway.ie/media/buildingsoffice/files/maps/M12122_General_CampusMapWEBpdf220217.pdf

But seeing as we are out of term, check the details.

You can only park in the park and ride car park if you have a parking permit from the University (which costs about €50 for the year) or if you park in the Pay and Display spaces (between blue lines only). It costs €6 per day to park in the P&D spaces in the park and ride car park (https://www.nuigalway.ie/pay-display/). This car park is close to the IDA business park and the Westwood hotel so if you are attending something close to the main campus or quad, it's about a 15 minute walk from here (the buses don't run out of term).

It's quite a complicated system on campus (and the signage is terrible) so there are always visitors to the University getting caught out and getting clamped. It's actually quite embarrassing for those who organise meetings or conferences on campus.

There is a public long term car park at the Cathedral for €5 a day which is very close to the quad and the library/concourse that might suit you better.

I used to live in Moyola Park in Newcastle and lots of people would park in that housing estate for free during the day. Keep an eye on the signs in case the parking system has changed but it could be an option :) Enjoy your trip.
