inexperienced driver coming into Dublin via Rathmine Road Lower

Am thinking about driving up from Roscommon on Sat 7/7 for a concert. How is the traffic from the M4 to Rathmines Road Lower and is there good parking around that area? FWIW, I'm a pretty inexperienced driver who lives in Roscommon (one traffic light!) and dreads the sheer number of cyclists who seem to come out of nowhere…
