    How do I close a credit card account?

    Thanks for getting in touch with us here.

    You can call our Team on 0818 251 251 to close the credit card account or if you prefer send your request in writing to your Branch or at the address below.

    Bank of Ireland,
    Account Closures Team,
    3rd Floor Operations centre,
    Cabinteely,
    Dublin 18

    (Please include the credit card information in the letter along with your name, request and contact number)

    Before requesting the close we would ask you to check the credit card has been paid in full.
    Cancel any third party direct debits or subscriptions directly with the retailer,
    And Government Stamp Duty maybe charged upon closure. (Government stamp duty is a Government tax. We collect this tax on behalf of the revenue each year on April 1st for the previous year or upon account closure. Further details on Government Stamp Duty can be found on www.revenue.ie.).
