Seems to be a discontinued product line. Still pretty decent tv for that price.

    Did you try any stores?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,774 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

Didn't try any BnM, Just the link in your OP.

When I initially opened the link there was two available.

Then when I decided to buy it, there was none left.

I was in Curries earlier and they have this TV on sale too but at 349

For what it's worth, I had a good look at it and the quality of the screen seemed far superior to the other TVs in the shop for similar price and specs

They're available to pick up in store on Monday 18th. Went as far as the payment process.

Yeah I got that far and the payment is pending with PayPal. Normally I'd get an confirmation email nearly instantly.

Many thanks O.P. for the bargain alert. I was looking for a new T.V.

I bought the Panasonic T.V. online about 30 minutes ago. No problem with the credit card payment going through.

They’re available in all shops from what I can see.

Anyone know how to get freeview? Where to plug the satellite cable

Freeview and Freesat are different beasts.

    Freeview has no satellite connection.

So is it accessed via wifi then or...? or do I need and STB box for it? if so, what type?

Freeview is the UK version of Saorview - terrestrial. Some of the features are accessible over broadband, but you'll need to fool the TV into thinking you are living in the UK. A standard aerial will get you reception.

All you'll likely receive are the standard Irish Saorview channels - unless you can get a VPN set up to work on your router telling the TV it's in the UK. Specs on the linked page in first post indicate it's a terrestrial tuner ( DVB-T/T2) so you'd need a satellite box such as a Humax connected to a dish and then plugged in to the UK channels.

    Hi
Can anyone tell me how to get the RTE player on to this TV please

Went in to have a look last night - they had two left there and DID told me they would be getting more stock of this item.

But for our purposes I decided to pass and wait for a good deal on a 4K 43" - can anyone recommend a good (must be Netflix 4K and 43"+) tv for under 500?

I dont think its possible with these UK Tvs.

Maybe look into getting the UK channels to work by using a UK proxy.

Yeah- think only Samsung’s- I heard there was a tg4 app that worked though.

You could try stream from an Android phone via hdmi...

Get a saorview box or a chromecast and connect the TV to one of them. Then you should be able to get the RTE Player or just get Sky for 20 euros a month and save yourself all that hassle.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Even if you can get it, in my experience (I have it on my Samsung), it's rubbish anyway... the same well-known problems of 2 minutes of ads before a show starts, which then inevitably freezes and requires you to start the process again.

    Much better option IMO

Have a samsung smart tv myself and the only time it gets any use, is when the Netflix app isnt working on the Virgin media horizon box. Like what Kaiser said the Rte app is so poor that when the GF wants to catch up on home and away, she'll watch it on her laptop rather than the smart tv.

Next smart TV I buy for myself will have an Android OS.:)

Pretty much all of our TV stock are UK models.

Don't use RTE Player often, but it works well enough on my 43" LG

Cheap Now TV Box with Channel 5 UK catch-up and Smart DNS/VPN like Getflix will sort out all her Home & Away Catch-up addictions. I think the latest Fair City is even on STV there too!

Ordered this one myself in the end-

    Samsung UE50MU6120KXXU UHD TV
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075GVBPXY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I know its more expensive (and maybe a bit too big) but 437 pounds for a 4K 50" Smart tv sounded great - remote is controlled by voice also which should be fun.
Same model was sold here - so I think (hope) it has saorview enabled.
