Still unsure about not having Aguero, but Firmino is 1.5m cheaper and should bag a nice price rise early on as well.
Why do you think he will bag a price rise early?

Currently with the following team for a GW1 BB

    Pickford
    Bailly,Tomkins,Robertson,Kabasele
    Sane,Neves,Sanchez,Salah(C),Richarlison
    Aubam

    Fabianski,Austn,Kamara,Bednarek.

Will Kamara start? Saw he played Pre season and scored.

First transfer barring anything disasterous could possibly be Robertson to Mendy

I think I'm going a bit mad Ted..:

Ederson / Stek - set and forget + 4m cheapie

    PVA - Coleman - TAA/Cedric/Bennett

Two attackers , Cedric for early fixtures before TAA is proper back in the squad. 4m def

    Salah, Mahrez, Moura, Pedro, Lennon

Lennon and Moura based off of preseason form. Moura will go for probably Richarlison if he's showing early signs of doing well under Silva. Lennon could change to Cairney

    Aguero, Lacazette, Sorloth

Sorloth again - based on preseason form and all the 4.5m options just seem like a waste for a striker slot. Lacazette is playing centrally for Arsenal and might be on penalties?

Mostly going 3-5-2, but I think that even the cheapie players will be picking up points.

Have completely lost all faith in United everything, Chelsea Spurs and Arsenal defense (too unpredictable/expensive), and Everton attack...

    Rate me? :D:confused:

I noticed a few teams seem to have the following including you above Matt

    Ederson 5.5
    Coleman 5.5

Would the following not be better:

    Pickford 5.0
    Mendy 6.0

Mendy surely higher attacking returns than Coleman?

Not necessarily if Seamie has a season like he did a couple of years ago. Also Mendy is subject to possible rotation (pep being pep) whereas Ederson is not. Also if Everton have a tough fixture or a bad spell at the back you can bench Coleman but if Pickford it your set and forget keeper you still have to play him.

Have removed both sanchez and shaw. No united for me as it stands. Mata a possibility as I need a 6.5 mid
    Aguero back in
I,m going around in circles LOL

Same...Spacecraft has magically appeared in my latest draft...I need to log out of FPL for a few days :-)

    We go again:
    Ederson (Button)
Robertson Bailly Tarkowski (Cedric, Wan Biss)
Salah David Silva Mane Cairney (Masuaku)
    Auba Arnie Zaha
Went for Mane instead of Fimino so I could re-shuffle & upgrade Quaner for Zaha. Might look to bring in Mendy for Robertson & get TAA in for Tarkowski depending on how he starts.
Also considering swapping Auba for Aguero until Snul's fixtures brighten up.

You don’t need to spend all of it.

If you find a nice team and have 0.5 or 1.0 left in the bank then why not leave it there for now ? Gives you room for early manoeuvre.

Plenty of sub 6.5 players offering more than Mata.

Well obviously Salah has to be part of my team and Aubameyang too.
I'm not in the Firminho camp at all, the second Liverpool guy has to be Mane imo.
I think having looked at all the teams put up to this point that a Fab/Foster combo in goals looks really good.
Defense for me has to include somebody from United, I'd like to have City cover too but I'll wait to see what personnel they use first. If things go to plan I can see Mendy replacing Robertson around week 5. Similarly I can see myself bringing in Bellerin for Coleman in a few weeks time.
I'm going with Salah and Mane in midfield, I'll take a chance in Mkhitaryan and I believe I'll definitely have one hit from Jota and Sessegnon.
Up top I've got Aubameyang with Arnie and the bench fodder in Kamara.

    My team,

    Fab, Fabianski
    Bailly, Coleman, Robertson, Janmaat, Wan-Bissaka
    Salah, Mane, Mkhitaryan, Jota, Sessegnon
    Aubameyang, Arnautovic, Kamara

Just experimenting with different ways to visualise my drafts. I'm honing in something I'm happy with, but there are a few areas where I'm torn between different combinations. Hope this is legible! It seems to be coming down to whether I want a bit more invested in first XI defence or squad midfield.

    Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3

Fabianski Patricio Ederson Stekelenburg Fabianski Stekelenburg
TAA TAA Robertson Cedric Tomkins Bennett Wan-Bissaka
Salah Ramsey Sane Mata Cairney Masuaku Masuaku
    Firmino Aguero Zaha

I'm debating a few of the options that are shared across all combinations too:
    • Aguero: How long before we're all fearing the Pep Wheel of Rotation again? Tempted by Auba instead
    • Zaha - Arnie has had a great pre-season; it's hard to separate them
    • Mata - seems nailed to begin with, at least, but United's pre-season has not been inspiring. Jota and Sessegnon possible replacements, but it's a big chunk of budget for PL debutants
    • TAA is in two drafts, but could be replaced by another 5.0 like Shaw. It's likely I'm going early WC, so I'm willing to risk having a few potentially short-lived options

Main things I'm monitoring: the price of Mitrovic when he comes in, whether or not we're likely to have a starting 4.5 Everton defender, and the prospect of a 5.0 Chelsea goalkeeper if transfer rumours are to be believed.

Anyway, this is mainly for my own reference, but if anyone has any thoughts they'll gladly be heard :)

    First draft so far:

    Allison - Steklenberg
    Roberston - Azpi - Mendy - Cedric - Wan-Biss
    Salah - Sane - Milivojevic - Lennon - Masuaku
    Aguero - Arnautovic - Zaha

I think somehow that the more expensive defenders could be worth more than the mid/high end midfielders, Ramsey etc.

    Any thoughts?

Fabianski, great price but first 9 games include: liv/ars/eve/CHE/MNU/TOT.

Get McCarthy and rotate gives you: BUR/BOU/LEI/WOL/BRI/CHE for the first 6 GWs.

I have used exactly 100M so don't have funds for McCarthy. I have always had Fab in my team when he was at Swansea. Even against the bigger teams he racks up lots of saves / bonuses and the occasional peno save. Versus the odd hammering, I'll take the chance.

I hadn't realised he had such a tough start though, thanks. I might reconsider.

Are we 100% that fabianski will start. I certainly wouldn't be going fabianski with a 4 million non starter.

    Tarkowski or Mee ?

I definitely think Fabianski will start the season anyway, but agree a 4.5m back-up is wise.

Tempted to pair him with Foster, but will Foster definitely start? Gomes surely must still have a chance of starting ir at least being in contention.

Already have Cook so would rather not double up with Bournemouth by going for Begovic.

    Tarkowski or Mee ?

I think it's a toss up tbh - possibly Mee as he is/was stand-in captain while Heaton was out

    Yes

Preplanned transfers are a bad idea at the best of times
But the start of the season is always a little bit more of a minefield

  • Registered Users Posts: 756 ✭✭✭Who_8_Paul?

    First attempt...

    Fab Begovic
    Cedric Dunk Yedlin Zanka Tomkins
    Salah Eriksen Miki Silva Stephens
    Lacazette Firmino Arnie

    Stuck between

    Lacazette Firmino Silva

    Or

    Auba Zaha Sane

The second seems to be popular on here but Lacazette could score not far off Auba and I much prefer Firmino to Zaha...

    Latest effort...

    Fab Foster
Mendy Robertson Tomkins Cedric Wan B
    Salah Mané Ramsey Ricky Chalobah
    Aguero Arnie Zaha

Mané may become Mahrez and Aguero may become Auba...the two main decisions I'm wrestling with.

That's a very solid looking team... Solid picks, probably the two def with most explosive potential starting out (Mendy and Robbo), hard to find fault with it really. Nice coverage from the big 2 (City and 'Pool), mid pricers bang in form (Arnie and Zaha), and probably the most sensible Everton attacker (Ricky). I really want to go with Rambo myself but i just don't think i can bring myself to do it starting out (or any Arsenal) - my argument is that their first 5 fixtures aren't great and we don't really know how they'll start so i'm adopting a wait and see approach. Still wouldn't be surprised to see Arsenal start strong though and Rambo's potential is high.

    I'm currently on:

    Patricio Steklenburg
    Robbo PVA Mendy Coleman Obi-Wan-Bissaka
    Salah Mané Mahrez Sané Cairney
    Zaha Arnie Madine

Very adventurous with my defenders. Cheap gk but i don't want rotating gk so am happy to go Patricio starting off. Midfield pretty much speaks for itself i'm hopeful of a lot of points there. Cheap frontline but i'm confident Arnie and Zaha can both do well. Cairney as already opined could be great value at £5m, he's an option to start instead of one of my def depending on fixtures, otherwise not a bad first sub.
