Don't get Will Hughes. I learned the hard way so that nobody else has to!

So I've always been pretty poor at fantasy football but this year I've decided to go all out and give it my best shot. Does anyone have any comments on how this team could be improved?.. or is it the image of perfection itself?.. I'm assuming the attachment uploads 😅

Brighton have a very tough start Utd, Liverpool games 2 and 3, Kane, Eriksen and Maguire may not start either due to the World Cup, Alonso could also be out of favour with the new Chelsea manager.

Right I did a bit of work based on bookies odds and opening fixtures and in this order I have Everton, Watford, Cardiff,Chelsea, Liverpool and Utd as having the easiest fixtures, also after last season’s debacle I swore to have players who are fun to own, so on this basis:
Ederson: most consistent way into City defence.
Steklenburg: 4m fodder who might play the first game.
Shaw: seems to be favoured and cheap way into the Utd defence.
    Coleman: fixtures and fun
    PVA: fixtures and fun
Cedric: good form at the end of last year and always enjoyed owning,
There’s only Wan Bissaka: 4m fodder.
    Deulofeu: fixtures and fun.
Salah: I suppose, cos everyone else will have him.
    Sane: could be good early.
    Siggy: good fixtures.
    Aguero: FPL legend.
    Firmino: good fixtures
Have Puncheon and Vokes but will look for some Cardiff fodder, also looking at getting maybe some Chelsea and or Bavies

Very similar to my team and my thinking and my fun players :D
It is the first team with salah in it that I like too. Im going to bow to the ownership and captaincy pressure I think . No point being silly.
To make up for that I'm going to go and get myself Mata

The band is back together again LOL
Double Palace defence though.....I'll prob go with Bennett if I have PVA

its beginning to take shape especially at the back

Keepers : Fabianksi and another playing 4.5 ml keeper. Foster probably makes the most sense but I just can't........maybe Begovic

Defence : Coleman Shaw Mendy Cedric Wan Bissaka - I have decided to spend more on defence than usual. Lots of options and defenders around 5.5/6ml will probably outscore attacking players at same price!!! PVA and Bennett keep jumping in and out of my team. I was struggling to decide on City mid so stuck Mendy in for PVA just now. May well change back. I would also prefer Bailly over Shaw. Coleman, Cedric and Wan/Bennett will stay

Midfield : Salah, Siggy, Mata, Gudmonsson, Gerry D - I have decided not to be an idiot and just get Salah. When I got rid of Alexis I had no captain. And I think the rest of my midfield makes up for playing safe n that one LOL. Mata will see a lot of gametime first 3 weeks and is probably on pens. Siggy- no explanation needed ;) The other 2 I have just thrown in for now . Have not looked at rotations etc. But they have decent fixtures I think.

Forwards : Have hardly changed these Kun, Firmino and Arnie. Had Chris Wood in. Logged back on and he was yellow flagged. Again. So brought in Gudmonson in mid instead and back to Arnie.

Wouldn't mind getting Miki or Auba in but think I'll take a wait and see approach with Arsenal and Chelsea. Early WC and BB for me

Anybody with some tippage on this team?

I'd love to fit Alonso in somehow; He's been my favourite FF player the last 2 years.

Happy with the look of the team bar him currently.

Hazard expected to miss start of season? No Aguero/Kane gonna hurt me?

Forget Alonso. Sarri won't play a wingback system so he's not attractive anymore. Rumours that Emerson might be the new LB, so we should keep an eye.

I like Gray. he's in my current draft and could well stay under the radar.

Not a fan of Wilson, but they do have a good start.

I just couldn't be without Salah. I see why you'd go without, but it's so risky. His effective ownership is likely to be over 100%. you'll win out if he blanks, but if he does his thing, you're immediately behind, and finding it difficult to get him back in for a great run of fixtures.

    we'll know about Hazard soon.

i like the Arsenal picks. I think a lot of people will look past them because they've City in GW1, but if they do well, people will be clamouring for them for their next few fixtures.

    - Hazard is too much of a risk for me to start with. When he's keen he's brilliant, when he's not he's a huge chunk of budget for nothing. I'd strongly consider getting rid of him, at least until you see which Hazard is turning up.

    - Upgrade Masuaku then, for another .5 you can get the likes of Kenedy.

    - I'd forget about Alonso. He's likely to be a complete dud if Chelsea don't play wingbacks.

    - With the Hazard switch you could also upgrade Wilson, if you still don't want to try and fit in Salah.

    - Think I also read on here that Holebas is unlikely to start? Upgrading Masuaka, Wilson and him would mean you have a full squad of pretty solid/very solid players (minus a sub keeper you won't need).

So yeah, dump Hazard is my advice really!

    A switch to 3-5-2

    Foster
    Coleman Robertson Shaw
    Salah Siggy Mahrez Pedro Mkhi
    Auba Arnie

    Fab Cedric WanB Quaner

Third strker spot was giving me a headache, think I'd rather punt on Pedro instead. Double Arsenal as I think they'll surprise everyone in the opening two fixtures and I'll be well set up for my nice run. Defence is probably fairly template at this stage. Arnie has tough fixtures but I think he can score against anyone.

Early Days But Looking at this playing 3-4-3

Ederson - Access to City Defense who will play
    Fab- Value Back Up

Robertson - Hoping he keeps up like he finished last season
Baily - Cheapest way to Jose defense
Tompkins - Priced too cheaply I think
Daniels - Best of that price range
Malone - Fodder as a result of having Salah

    Salah - Salah
Pogba - Punty but worth it if he plays more advanced now
Milivojvic - Bargain if on pens again. One of the first names in team
Doucoure - May well change but not sure yet
Stephens(Bri) - Fodder as a result of having Salah

Firmio - Great Value for an under rated player
    Aguero - Need City Attacker
Arnotvuic - Happy if he grabs 10- 12 goals

  • Registered Users Posts: 833 ✭✭✭SkySter

Ederson - Most reliable way into City defense. Set and forget.
Speroni - Non playing 4k GK.

Ward - Burnley solid defense and have good opening fixtures.
Robertson - Pool defensive cover a must.
Coleman - Always delivers. Good opening fixtures.
Wan-Bissaka - Flavour of the month in 4k bracket.
Daniels - Not sure. Might swap with Cedric.

Miki - Arsenal to start strong. Assist machine to Auba.
    Salah - pure FOMO
Sane - Rested and out to prove a point I think.
    Jota - Bit of a punt/fun pick.
    Stephens - Bench fodder.

Firmino - Great value and very consistent.
Auba - My pick for golden boot. Scores for fun.
    Kamara - Bench fodder.

Jags and Williams are both 4.5, who is in Evertons favoured backline? I know Keane and Coleman are nailed on

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,072 ✭✭✭wrestlemaniac

    Begovic---Fabianski

    Coleman---Bailly---Robertson---Cedric---Wan

    Salah---Sane---Richarlison---Jota---Ralls

    Aguero---Zaha---Arnie

    Planning on BB in GW1

    Begovic- Nice fixtures

    Fabianski- Great value

Coleman- Nice run of fixtures and attacking

Bailly- Banking on more dour Mourinho defensiveness

    Robertson- Attacking

    Cedric- Attacking

    Wan- Fodder who should play

Salah- Can't believe I'm not excited about having him in a team but he is in to cover others having him

Sane- Rested after WC and should be raring to go.

Richarlison- Silva knows his ability from Watford. Unlucky not to score more last year. Nice fixtures for Everton and cheaper than Siggy.

Jota- Often plays up top for Wolves and with Neves and now Moutinho sitting in behind, will have plenty of license to attack.

Ralls- On pens, could be this years Mili. Worth a punt at 5mil. Warnock's teams always strong on set pieces.

Aguero- Not fully swayed with him and may switch to Auba yet.

Zaha- Always enjoy owning him and still value even as a FW

Arnie- Best other FW at this price

Only real question for me is if I switch Mane and Firmino in for Salah and Arnie.

Trying to spread the money around for 15 starters as well.

Pogba isn't likely to start the season, so I'd get him out for a few weeks at least. You could keep United cover there by switching to Martial or Mata, who seem nailed for the opening couple of GWs. Personally I'd also have a 4.0 bench fodder goalkeeper if I was going with Ederson and just play him every week. Keep an eye on Daniels for the rest of pre-season too, as Bournemouth have just signed a new left back.

    Current lineup is as follows:

    Ederson
    Bailly-Coleman-Robertson-Bednarek
    Neves-Richarlison-Salah
    Aguero-Firmino-Lukaku(C)

    Bench: Speroni,Suttner,Masuaku,Surman

Any suggestions here folks? Lukaku obviously the main one to switch around potentially? Thoughts on Aguero?

A lot of potential non playing players
    Lukaku won’t play Gw1
    Midfield weak
    Downgrade lukaku uppgrade midfield

Unless you are planning a very early wildcard I think you need Arsenal cover, Lukaku wont start the season I wouldn't think, downgrade him to Arnie/Touson/Zaha and upgrade a midfielder to Miki/Ramsey.

I've brought in Sane/Aubam/Austin(likely to change) for Aguero/Lukaku/Masuaku

Gone with the following to begin. A lot can change though!

    Leno

    Doherty Dunk Laporte

    Salah Yarmolenko Cairney Eriksen

    Kane Aubameyang Austin

Bench: Norris Wan Bissaka Kebano Connolly

Put plenty of thought into it, took a lot of great insight in this thread into consideration, and am now really happy with how this looks. So, of course, I'll likely change every single one of these players over the next couple of weeks.

    GK
    Fabianski
    Begovic

    DEF
Coleman - expecting a big season.
    PVA - all aboard.
Kolasinac - think he'll score a lot of points. Emery is a flat-track bully.
    Bednarek
    Peltier

    MID
    Salah
Sane - don't trust any other City attackers to play regularly from the start.
    Jota - OOP
    Kenedy - Great value.
Gray - Good value, looks very sharp in pre-season.

    FWD
Zaha - Toss up between him, Tosun and Arnie. May change.
Firmino - The real must-have for me at his price.
Auba - Scoring rate for a new PL player was brilliant. Think he'll score heavily.

    Maybe.

One is on set pieces. The other will probably be slightly higher up the pitch.

Whereas I don't think he's worth £40million (prices are mental these days) I do think Ricky has serious potential and obviously Marco Silva sees something in him.

He had an unreal start to the season and went quiet once Watford did, was always involved in everything Watford did in the beginning and IIRC, probably should have had way more goals, if not assists.

Whether he's a better option that Siggy FPL wise? Time will tell, certainly think their PPG will be close which might slide Ricky's way given he's 1mil cheaper. I think I'll go with him in the beginning anyway.

Did he not go quiet mainly after Silva left, which might be some explanation? i could be wrong on the timeline though.

No he went quiet about 2 months before that
And was EXTREMELY wasteful in front of goal throughout the season

Don’t think he is a natural finisher and could again be very frustrating

Accurate I believe. Once Silva was offered jobs elsewhere was the decline of Watford from what I recall.

Yet another draft. I'm keeping Salah. Main concerns are Siggy and Austin, and lack of funds upfront.

    Forster Ryan
    Young Ward Cédric Daniels Bennett
    Salah Sánchez Sessegnon Sigurdsson Deulofeu
    Zaha Agüero Austin

    EDIT:

I just made a lot of changes. Seems a safer team:

    Forster Ryan
    Mendy Ward Cédric Daniels Bennett
    Salah Sane Sessegnon Deulofeu Siggy/Kenedy
    Agüero Firmino Kamara/Zaha

Siggy and Kamara could be changed to Kenedy and Zaha.

Daniels could be risky with new LB signed. Cook probably safer for same price.

I just can't help myself. Latest draft:

    McCarthy (4.0)
    Robertson Douglas Cook (Wan-Bissaka, Bennett)
    Salah Mahrez Keita Costa (4.5)
    AAA (Auba Arnie Aguero)

Feel a bit weird having Cook, but he's the more sensible route to Bou defense with Daniels a risk now. Douglas I have a good feeling about. I fancy Wolves to be pretty good in defense and his attacking stats last season were INSANE. Helder Costa(5m) is my cheap enabler and he could be a great differential. Same price as Neves but much more potent attacking-wise. Less secure of starts, however. Keita looking great in preseason. I fancy Liv to start strongly. Hence Salah and Robbo likewise. Double City attack - Mahrez and Aguero as I fancy them to score the highest. Aguero alternates well with Salah early on for captaincy. A bit wary how secure he is of starts though. Auba and Arnie complete the AAA frontline. Both class acts.
