Dublin snorkelling

Last week I was away in Spain with my family. While I was away I went snorkelling with fish just off the beach. When I say snorkelling I don’t mean off expensive boat with an oxygen tank on my back, I just swam out off the shore with a pair of sea goggles and looked at some fish.

I really enjoyed it and would do anything to do it again. I don’t have money to spend on tours or anything I’m just looking for a beach or cliff that you can get in the water and find some fish, any ideas on where to go?
All help would be much appreciated!

Cant help with the location, but you will need a wetsuit if you are going to do this in Irish waters. It's grand at the moment once you're moving around, but snorkeling is generally more sedate so you'll get cold very quickly.

The waters off dublin arent clear and limited sea life close to shore

You be doing well to spot any fish on the east coast plus the water is rarely clear. Your best bet would be over the west coast

The waters around Sutton Martello tower/Bailey lighthouse/Balscadden cliffs are usually pretty clear. However, it’s not something i’d do by myself. You can charter boats out of Howth harbour, they’d know the best places to go and keep an eye on you.
