    Does it Ponaire long to deliver?

    Fairly quick, once ordered.

    Ponaire had free shipping once you ordered over 500g ... has that now changed to over €50?

    https://www.ponaire.ie/ponaire-delivery-returns/

    Been using the site for years ... this has changed in the last couple of weeks? Disappointing

    Both delivery costs are still listed on their site in different locations - a bit confusing top say the least.

    That's weird. I ordered 1kg from Ponaire about 2 weeks ago and delivery was free.

    Don't think it is quite as nice as the Two Fifty Square I was drinking, but its about 15 euro a kllo chearper!

    Two Fifty Square stuff I had wasn't nearly worth the price they were charging for it. The Koffee Kollective Kieni??(roughly same price) stuff was far nicer.

    I've taken a punt on some of this Green Bean stuff. 4 bags for price of 3, so 1 decaf, 1 for work and 2 for house. They're 500g each, so I'll be drinking a lot more coffee as I can't have any guests really.

    Anyone ordered coffee from Velo? I'm getting a machine from them and they're sending a few bags of coffee free. Just wondering what to expect.

    Their tendem blend in Aldi isn't great but I've heard good things about the BMX blend.

    I've had some coffee at the shop there and it's quite nice actually and took a bag of their fixie aswell which went down nicely.

    That one in aldi is all kinds of awful I found. They also do another in partnership with nicholas roche now that you can get from his shop.

    I'll probably get banned for mentioning the name but...

    6x200g whole bean blonde Starbucks for £12.69
    Not bad considering its about 7€ each in store !
    There's 6 packs ground coffee there too

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/STARBUCKS-Espresso-Roast-Blonde-Coffee/dp/B07X63LCXC/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_mod_primary_lightning_deal?dchild=1&keywords=starbucks+beans+blonde&qid=1602674241&sbo=Tc8eqSFhUl4VwMzbE4fw%2Fw%3D%3D&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&sprefix=starbucks+beans&sr=8-2

    If you don't like that though there's other offers on other brands for Amazon prime day deals

    do any of the amazon based coffees roast to order?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 229 ✭✭Bigbooty

    Pretty sure they never expire. Starbucks roast their beans over a nuclear reactor to get them as dark as possible.

    Their Sweet Sorrento I just finished off was excellent

    Just started with my first order:
    v60, brazil coffee from B+D, using normal kettle.
    Hmm, nice coffee taste, but lack of flavours - so my technique needs plenty of practice.
    Onwards to tasting plenty of coffee around the world :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,103 ✭✭✭Hodors Appletart

    it could be just brazilian coffee being good at being coffee flavoured

    but do watch the hoffman v60 video

    Link

    Aye looked at that, but started off with 15g / 250ml ...
    I might tweak it, but will stay with that for a few coffees first.

    I brew with the V60 pretty much everyday and you need a gooseneck kettle for pour over brewing - you've no control over your pouring with a standard kettle. Do you use filtered water? Tap water is for the most part gross for brewing coffee. Keeping as many variables as possible the same will give you consistently good cups.

    I use 30 mg for 380 ml of coffee and it's not hugely strong (to my taste). Try more coffee and definitely a goose necked kettle.

    I'll see, yeah I do need to tweak it.
    Just starting with 250g bag, before I use 1k bags etc

    Pulled the trigger on Green Bean. 4 for 3 is hard to ignore. Ordered:
    * Jaggy Loko
    * Tiger Paw
    * Sweet Sorrento
    * Decaf Dream

    2kg for almost the same price as 1kg of WCC..

    I've ordered few different varieties over the last whole.

    Coffee Angel: very good service, free delivery and coffee is great. My standard offering.

    Bean In Dingle: Came recommended and was delicious if not little expensive.

    Upside coffee: Best of the group for a long coffee.

    Thinking of cloud picker next, any other suggestions?

    Bought a 6 week Espresso sub from Bailies - not a great start ... same bean 2 weeks in a row :(

    A bean called Nota - a bit meh.

    Ponaire have fixed their subscriptions - which offer a nice discount!
    1kg of beans a month for €25 including postage.

    How much is the bailies sub? Nota is only 5.50 sterling a bag

    Good to see that from Ponaire.

    Just finished my Indian blend. It's nice, but I think the Connoisseur is a better blend for my requirements. So I'll stick to that for my next order.

    Will be starting into the bag of Sumatra Single Origin now on Monday. Looking forward to it.

    Was £70 (with free postage) for 6 weeks 2 x 250 per week

    Works out at £5.83 a bag delivered
    Not much of a saving so far
